Im only new to linux, but i have managed to sample most of the popular distibuations. I find that slackware is simple to use and manage/maintain. In addition slackware is trhe only distro which as far as i know doesnt have custon binaries. I had a lot of trouble getting some applications and the kernel to work.
Do linux desktop edvelopers take pride in being different? Some things are different to the point that are incompatible. And thats' not good enought if linux wants to suceed in desktop
Ok, then whats the difference from the more technical point of view? I can't imagine XOrg being that much better then XF86 because it's not a complere rewrite.
Im am a novice linux user and i use slackware because i find it to be the most refined and easiest to use. What will using XOrg instead of XF86 change for people like me?
What happened to the days when the government at least pretended to represent the people? I feel like countries are fiels and we are the cattle. The recource they harvest.
It makes me sick to hear phrases like "It's not what the country can do for you, it's what you can do for your country". I hear this and similar phrases all the time in American movies. The truth is, we are all used.
Ahh yes, the days when we had privacy are over.
All because of the stupid poor people who are willing to get rid of their freedom for a little bit of extra safety (That's not even a guarentee). I agree, we are next. We already have tons of cameras recording our actions in public, and tracking is next!
People, don't give away your freedom. What's left of it anyway.

The knowledge that the system is working for me, not against me. That it's not doing anything behind my back.
I fail to see the incentive to change if they are thesome.

For example, the feet in gnome or the k in front of every damn think in kde. I can think of a lot more important/usefull things they could do.
Big companies and governments lite to hear this sort of thing, they will go for it.
It's been some time since something more efficient come along. Cant wait to hook one of those cells to my home made projects.
