There wouldn't be much of a need for adjustments. They want something to run so that he can share docs between him and his wife. If they aren't worried about file security (it seems not) then the only thing they need to do is download files and dump them. Anything you need to do can be done over ssh anyway :)

I've always liked the idea offering an outlook plugin much like binari does. Even though it doesn't work as well as expected, it allows companies to use their existing software (which they paid for) and still use the benefits of a better backend server. I could care less what clients are used as long as the server is scalable, reliable and secure. An exchange replacement would have to either have a plugin for outlook or be a reverse engineered copy of exchange in order to make it in businesses. A company that has paid for their copies of windows will not immediately dump then and install linux because a better server is available but is not compatible with their client software. Outlook is a business standard like it or not. Exchange is a great idea, when it works, it works well...when it doesn't...well, it sucks. Replace the server and the clients will use it...if it's compatible.

No one was going to use BeOS for the lack of software was too large because they weren't on OEM systems because there was too little software because there was no OEM shipping it, because...ouch infinite loop

If this site was a member of the press, do you think we'd see the number of spelling and grammer mistakes that we do on a daily basis from the editors themselves? I don't think so. Just because you put up a weblog and a few thousand people read it religiously doesn't make you a member of the press. The whiney runt from GraphicPower.com and the others are just people who use macs. They may be smart enough to run a website, but that does NOT make them a member of the press. It does not, nor should not affect people buying macs. I can't get my free pass but I write a local article in a computer magazine about Apple every now and then.
