btw, many cellphones can access the web, and many kids have cellphones, where is this Christian group with the warnings for those devices?
Same group, addressing your "concern" about mobile porn, right here
Cell phones are a new and emerging means for distributing porn. Though this technology is somewhat new, it still poses a serious risk to children. Most kids have a cell phone these days and it is certainly one of the most used tech components that a kid would use during the day.
According to a study done by VisionGain, adult content transmitted to mobile phones could reach $4 billion by the end of 2006. Pornographic movies, pictures, and daily downloads are all accessible via the cell phone.
They're not picking on the wii. They're pornophobes, sure, but that's their right. And they're just providing a reasonably-worded warning to those who are worried about porn (and free pro-Nintendo / pro-Wii advertising for many others.) It's win-win:)
Three seems like a pretty small pile to me, if it's a "pile" at all. Wiis are selling on craigslist (with no listing fees) for $325 to $400. After tax, that's and easy ~$85-135 profit, and no shipping hassle or non-paying scammers. Unless leveraging $250 for a day or two is beyond your means, then you seriously missed out or aren't too smart. Or lying.
Maybe you saw 3 earlier, but at 3pm there were none, and the clerk in electronics said there hadn't been any all day. Calling Target to ask if they have wiis is fruitless; they say no even when (as I learned once before) they were unpacking a shipment at the time. Plus I have friends in Marlboro and it's on the way, so stopping in to check doesn't hurt.
Whatever, next time that happens, pick one up and I'll give you $300 for it and come pick it up anywhere in Metrowest.
Bullshit. I live in Natick; I went to the Marlboro Target Sunday at 3pm (after hitting the Framingham one with no luck) and there were no wiis. If there were earlier, the clerks didn't know about them, and the "pile" (how many is in a pile?) sold out before I got there. Of course, were it true, you'd have bought a few and sold them on ebay or craigslist where it's still easy to make a quick $50 return on a $250 investment.
OK, good for you. Care to share what is (assumedly) so special about their clocking strategy and what they presented, or did you expect us to dig down through the thousands of pages in that link you provided to find this needle in a stack of needles?;)
Only in the first few months after a new technology node is introduced, and only since maybe 0.25um has this been true. Prior to that, including the Lisa era, the large-feature chips enjoyed wonderful yield and low manufacturing cost. Under 1um (90nm/64nm/45nm) all that has changes a lot, as yields are much lower (from 90%+ down to 30%, 20%, even 10% in some cases.) The equipment, while always expensive, has skyrocket in cost since
In short, his statement is fairly reasonable for nodes above 0.35um.
I guess you meant to say "not a real coin or paper currency" then. Your claims: "This isn't a real number we're dealing with. This is a fictional number. Just as half a cent is a fictional number." are both false. Regardless of the exitstance of coins in those denominations, 0.002 and 0.5 arereal numbers. There's nothing "fictional" about either one. I'm baffled by your ridiculous claim.
Note also that these real numbers are used as multipliers with large multiplicands in this situation. So the "problem" of paying "0.002 cents" or "half a cent" isn't a problem at all. Moreover, a number need not have a piece of currency available to be "real."
No, but that's irrelevant because he has permission -- twice. Once at the beginning of the call when the recording says "this call may be monitored or recorded for quality control or training purposes" and again at the end of the call when Andrea tells him it's OK to post the recording on his blog.
Do you work for Verizon, or are you just "not a mathematician?" 0.02 is very much a real number both in the mathematical and practical senses of the word real. So is "half" -- whatever the units you put on these numbers (cent, dollars, math-impaired people) they're quite real numbers.
If you'd posted this as AC I'd have assumed you were trolling and ignore you. Maybe you still are, but your post was is so amazingly wrong that I need to comment.
Things that are useless; vibrating controller on menus, I would go far enough to say that is annoying.
I am certain that you've not tried it then. The wiimote vibrates slightly for less than a second when your pointer is moved over a selection button. It's great tactile feedback.
an SD card to play music??? the other 2 have hard drives to store music, you can stream music from your pc onto your xbox and/or media center, so thats a loss.
And that makes your music sound better or something?
the PS'2s power wasn't laughable in comparison, it was greater the the game cube in my opinion and rivaled the xbox just fine. It took a while, just as it will with 360/ps3, to utilize its power but it turned out just fine.
It's not a matter of opinion; the ps2 is far less powerful, both in terms of CPU and graphics, than the gamecube. Sorry, but it's an objective reality.
Final problem I have with nintendo ; They change it way to much, new controller almost entirely every system, backwards compatability is non existent, basicly. Nintendo will hold strong, but the other 2 systems will prevail.
Heaven forbid something change for the better. And, BTW, Wii is 100% backward compatible with nintendo's previous consol (gamecube) which is something that cannot be said for PS3 or 360.
Considering that most analyst have said that Nintendo cannot afford any kind of flop and Wii has to be successful for Nintendo to not sink, sticking with plain 480i/480p seems to me wise choice.
Which "analyst" is unfamiliar with the wildly profitable Nintendo DS and GameBoy?
You're confused. You can still play DS (and presumably Wii) games online with random or skill-based matchmaking without any friend code use at all. You just can't voice chat or text chat (other than canned messages) with an opponent unless you have their friend code.
The PS3 is not a "small box" -- it is larger (and more expensive, and less powerful) than my HTPC that is actually a "small box that sits next to the TV."
You need to do "alot" more research about "alot" of things. Besides English, look into how poorly an x86 core would perform for graphics operations as opposed to, say, a dedicated GPU core. Until then, step aside and let the people who have a clue work "there" magic.

If 10 Watts keeps your room warm, then you must live in a thermos no larger than a cubic foot in volume.

What? Check the manual: holding down Z (or is it C?) let's you control the camera.
Have you ever heard of the "wii classic controller?" Or did you know that you can use gamnecube controllers (wired or wireless) with the wii?
They're $300 on ebay and craigslist. That's far less than twice the MSRP. Go get one.

Oh, the verizon reps undertood the problem for sure. It's understanding that was lacking.

In Mass. you get one of the item for free if it scans at a higher price than what is tagged on the item or a shelf sign.
Your claim is false and unsubstantiated.

The "least common denominator" between 720p and 1080i (~540p) is not 480i (SD). The PS3 should convert the 720p to 1080i like the XBOX460 does.
You're confused. You can still play DS (and presumably Wii) games online with random or skill-based matchmaking without any friend code use at all. You just can't voice chat or text chat (other than canned messages) with an opponent unless you have their friend code.
Where's the problem with that?
I think the word you're looking for is priced.
The PS3 is not a "small box" -- it is larger (and more expensive, and less powerful) than my HTPC that is actually a "small box that sits next to the TV."
While most of your post is right on, the last sentence is inaccurate. 75nm and 65nm fabs are already in operation. I know; I design for one :)

;)
So who cares then? Oh, yeah -- you do:
Moderate this up if you have the moral fiber and intestinal fortitude to show something worth-while about this pathetic breach of confidentiality.
Pathetic indeed.
It's an nVidia-GPU based card, genius.
