After Monday's amendment was added, a first offense of less than $1,000 of theft would be punished by fine only, although an offense involving five or more communications devices would automatically be construed as a class D felony.
I don't like the wording there. Five or more communications devices? Where would the boundary of responsibility for the accused end in that? If someone downloads a song through their cable modem, which uses their (apparently not illegal in the revision) router and switch, would they count the server used to get the file, and the user's computer? There's the magic five. Would it stop at the source? Somewhere inside the ISP? Only local equipment? Seems to me they could easily construct a way to turn any of it into a felony using that rule. Or maybe I'm misunderstanding this?
Ahh,/.'ers: They actually think you're serious.
It was joke! Well, except for the forbidden magazines. Geez, sometimes you people can be hilarious... and other times...
1.)Microsoft OSes will suck
That's always true. Think about it. We're running prettied-up versions of WIndows 3.1 on 2ghz 386s. Well, not _me_. I have my Octane2 on my desk.
2.)Microsoft OSes will have bugs
And easy to exploit bugs, too. I could get into a very long and stupid flamewar about this, but I will not.
3.)The Death and Taxes thing
4.)Big band music is evil
5.)There is no fact of life #5.
I don't find it dehumanizing. I find it GREAT! Now I can buy the 75 pack of enemas and the forbidden magazines without that weird guy behind the counter looking at me like I'm a freak.
Gee(e^15)z! 'Mozlla 1.1 Beta Out And About'. You know, it seems people rush to be 'the one' that posts a story. Come on, people! It's kind of like the people that wish for a MUSH to go down so they could get the botspot. There are more important things. Like not getting moderated -1, Troll.
Why do I have a feeling I'm going to get a 'troll'?
But more on-topic wise, some people always hate other software. It's not a new concept. So, I don't take it as a suprise that Opera, Gentoo, and other users feel they 'must' chime-in on their opinion of Mozilla. Why is this? Is it that they hate the software so much they can't stand the idea of someone else using it happily? Or is it the same principal that causes 'Mozlla'?
As someone who's worked on Mozilla, I have to say very little. Recently, I nearly gutted an Opera user. The sentiment of them is "Mozilla is a bloated peice of shit that crashes too much and is useless". To that, I responded "You're going to need your last backup tape". . With this release, Mozilla gets stronger and better. More power to those that use it.
This strikes me as odd. It shouldn't, of course. The US Government is known for all kinds of stuff like this. However, this really sticks out for some reason. It seems an organization that can afford to murder people and design stealth technology can't create a working avionics system? Now, do we even _know_ that this story is accurate? Or is it another attempt at psuedo-reverse propaganda by the US Government? Well, I guess it doesn't matter, but, still...
If you're not white, christian, and upper middle class or higher in this country, very few will give you a headline when you turn up missing. If you're a poor black family and you get salughtered by a gang, the news media will not cover your death, beacuse "Black on black violence doesn't get viewers". The Elizabeth Smart incident is an example. What about the other missing children? I hate to be cynical, but it's not going to change anytime soon.
I'm going to rehash. So don't get annoyed when I do. Microsoft has tried things like this beofre. But not nearly as, well, let's say "comprehensive". And, yes, consumers buy computers to 'logde' into hotmail and look at 'all dem pretty websites'. Not to use the thing for anyting good. There _ARE_ exceptions, but, they usually don't use Windows:). Windows CE, the embedded stuff, Palladium isn't a new idea for Microsoft. And, it doesn't really matter anyway. John and Jane who know nothing about computers see Microsoft and think "it must be good". If Palladium doesn't allow you to install your own OS, people will build their own, or find a way around Palladium. So, basically, for anyone that is 'scared' of Palladium, heed this advice: You don't have to use it. You don't think Linux belongs in the 'Games' section of a software store.

Stop the q-tip when there's resistance!
And of course, it'll give you the finger, the international hand gesture for "Declined Card".
