... but it's "regulated" by the corporations (pharma, hospitals, doctors, insurance) who have successfully accomplished regulatory capture. They own the government and run it for their profit.
Follow the money. The US has an oligarchy controlled by rich people and corporations. They pay for the laws they want. Your vote doesn't matter. All politicians (except Bernie) are on the take and will pass any law you want if you pay them.
The discussion has strayed quite a bit from "climate change". My post was a suggestion of something everyone could easily do to help reduce climate change. I should not have replied to your troll post which attacked me and others with an off-topic rant about vegetarians murdering small animals and I was surprised that you even threw in Eric Hoffer as your "inspiration". Sorry for feeding the troll but I will stop now. Good day to you sir.
Wow... I haven't heard anyone dredge up Eric Hoffer for many years. His rants are against the Nazis and the Communists were tenuous at the time and pretty much irrelevant now. Your logic on government, herbivores and vegetarians murdering small animals is interesting. Do you have a newsletter which fills in some of the huge gaps in your "critical thinking"?
Sounds like your beef is better than most but you are still part of the problem... methane, CO2 and land use are all not sustainable for any meat production.
The Tesla has 7000 batteries at 0.6 gm lithium/battery... so 4 kg per car. Smaller cars will have fewer batteries. While it would be nice to convert all ICE vehicles to electric immediately, that is not the way the world works. It will, unfortunately, take many years to ramp up electric vehicle and battery production. Tesla itself is contracting to develop lithium resources in Nevada where they are apparently abundant (but not listed as part of the "proven reserves"). The ocean has about 230 billion tonnes of lithium which are not counted either. It's not likely that there will be a shortage of lithium... one of the most abundant elements in our world.
Most meat production is done in industrial facilities (feedlots, chicken houses, pig barns) using corn and soy as feed with a conversion ratio of about 20 to 1. Stop producing meat and you free up 20x the calories of corn and soy for human food (as well as stop deforestation of the Amazon, etc.) and stop most of the human caused methane production. You can't say you care about the environment and still eat meat.
Cows produce methane, a potent greenhouse gas. The produce lots of methane... more than any other source of methane. Get rid of cows and you get rid of most of the methane. www.cowspiracy.com
Tesla chose the 18650 battery since they were light (power/weight) and cheap and they could get them in large quantities. They designed the battery pack to sit low under the passenger compartment. This gives the car a very low center of gravity and amazing handling. The battery case is very thin with small mass and the large number of small batteries allows for a liquid temperature management system which is crucial for long life and performance.
Lithium is about as abundant as chlorine. Concentrated deposits occur all over the world with proven reserves of about 14 million tonnes and annual production of 36,000 tonnes. It would be really hard to run out (or create scarcity) of lithium.
Many people would consider not having children as more than a "minor inconvenience". However, if we stopped eating meat, we could support about 10x the current earth population so if you want children, just stop eating meat. The greenhouse gas saved by not eating meat can support a large family. 50% of climate change gasses (methane and CO2) come from the production of meat.
Here's something that's real that you can do with only a minor inconvenience... You could stop eating meat. It would improve your health and help the environment. Eating meat has the environmental impact equivalent to all of the driving you do. www.cowspiracy.com
If you work on GPS navigation software, you must be aware that GPS computes an instantaneous speed using doppler shift of the satellites. This is completely different from position delta based speed calculation.
After reading (with my reading glasses) all of the comments here proposing complicated and expensive monitor and software solutions, I would like to suggest that you just get a pair of reading glasses. The are designed to magnify things at close distance. You should adjust the distance to your monitor to about 18" which is the focal length of most reading glasses. Reading glasses are cheap and come in magnifications of 1.5 to 2.75.
Interesting to see all of the complaints now about removing little used features and reducing bloat. The outrage here now is as great as I have seen in the past when FireFox was adding features and bloat. Can we make up our minds?... or do we just like to whinge?
I live near a large lake which has a number of buoys which sense temperature and water quality. NASA (JPL) uses this "ground truth" to calibrate their satellites temperature readings, etc. Sounds like they need to do some "ground truth" for Greenland to recalibrate things.
The science is settled, the climate is warming. Of course, the effects of a warming climate on the sea, land, fish, animals, etc. is being studied and the effects are not always clear and obvious. This result is interesting and not obvious. If the Antarctic is actually contributing 0.23mm a year to sea level falling, then other areas such as Greenland are contributing more to sea level rise. It is clear that the sea level is rising about 3.2mm a year. This is not in dispute except for the flat earth folks. It's only a matter of teasing out the components. Long term, sea level rise will make many coastal areas uninhabitable. Best to plan accordingly.
A lot of "organized places" have screwy street names (change names along the route or over time) and numbers (i.e. Japan).

The video is amazing... mesmerizing... fantastic.

Lithium is cheap ($7/kg). A 18650 cell has only 0.6 gm lithium... not a major cost.

That's why I don't like cities. Too many jerks who think they can do anything stupid and be "anonymous".
I don't know why they are concerned about phone thickness. Every iPhone I have seen has a thick case (with flowers).

If you're looking for an embedded device, the Oak is Arduino with WiFi and very low power so much better.

On the other hand, the sea rise from the current warming trend will leave much of the coastline (where many people live) uninhabitable.
