    Every time somebody uses the generic name alone in an email, or even verbally, they get corrected, loudly and publicly. Because we all know that if our product name gets reduced to that single generic word, we're up a creek as far as trademark protection goes.

    How are they going to prevent customers from using the generic name?

    the thing that always gets me is that people want a "windows look and feel".......well then, why not just use windows?

    I suppose a person can like the Windows UI without liking one or more of these:

    1) The frequent crashes.

    2) The increasingly exorbitant cost.

    3) MS's monopolistic business practices.

    It's like saying I want a pepsi that looks and tastes like Coke

    I think of it instead as someone saying, "I want a Coke that looks and tastes like Coke but isn't loaded with sugar and caffeine."

    B5....okay I have to agree with you there. Though I liked the 4th season theme better.

    5th season here. In fact, 1st and 5th season themes are the only ones I can remember. Maybe I just have a strong aversion to dissonance. (That'd explain why I hate the Farscape and Andromeda themes so much, too.)

    Yeah, apt sounds great -- assuming you can get Debian installed. I got SuSE 6.4 and Mandrake 7.2 up and running in two to three hours. After three hours with Debian 2.2r2, the installer was still bitching about not finding a NIC, even though it had already activated the PCMCIA Ethernet card. Worse, it wouldn't even let me skip over the network config so I could work on it later.

    My two-year-old Slackware is more newbie-friendly.

    I consider the earlier, videogame-based cartoons (Pac-Man, etc.) to be the "beginning of the end".

    I'm guessing the stars with lens flare are nearby (relatively) stars -- part of our own galaxy -- that are "in the way". Because they are closer, they seem much brighter, so they are overexposed.

    It's a nice idea but there are far more 12 year olds that really don't understand the "lovableness" of R2D2. They liked Jar Jar.

    So did I, and I'm 30. I wish Lucas would do more characters who aren't obviously guys in costumes.

    We're not the ones he cares about anymore.

    That's because you're not 12 anymore. The original movies were aimed at kids. The new movies are aimed at kids. Lucas is being consistent; it's just your tastes that have changed.
