Every time somebody uses the generic name alone in an email, or even verbally, they get corrected, loudly and publicly. Because we all know that if our product name gets reduced to that single generic word, we're up a creek as far as trademark protection goes.
How are they going to prevent customers from using the generic name?
B5....okay I have to agree with you there. Though I liked the 4th season theme better.
5th season here. In fact, 1st and 5th season themes are the only ones I can remember. Maybe I just have a strong aversion to dissonance. (That'd explain why I hate the Farscape and Andromeda themes so much, too.)
Now explain, using this reasoning, why the anti-abortionists call themselves "pro-life." Are they afraid they'll lose support if they say, "I oppose a woman's right to have an abortion"?
Yeah, apt sounds great -- assuming you can get Debian installed. I got SuSE 6.4 and Mandrake 7.2 up and running in two to three hours. After three hours with Debian 2.2r2, the installer was still bitching about not finding a NIC, even though it had already activated the PCMCIA Ethernet card. Worse, it wouldn't even let me skip over the network config so I could work on it later.
My two-year-old Slackware is more newbie-friendly.
I'm guessing the stars with lens flare are nearby (relatively) stars -- part of our own galaxy -- that are "in the way". Because they are closer, they seem much brighter, so they are overexposed.
It's a nice idea but there are far more 12 year olds that really don't understand the "lovableness" of R2D2. They liked Jar Jar.
So did I, and I'm 30. I wish Lucas would do more characters who aren't obviously guys in costumes.
We're not the ones he cares about anymore.
That's because you're not 12 anymore. The original movies were aimed at kids. The new movies are aimed at kids. Lucas is being consistent; it's just your tastes that have changed.
Except the name of the animal rhymes with "new". Pronouncing the "g" sounds illiterate to me.
The same "Joe Average American" that made Jerry Springer and WWF Smackdown so popular?
Well, that's what the strobe lights are for....
How are they going to prevent customers from using the generic name?
Yeah, it took at least four episodes for Namek to "blow up in five minutes".
Most people don't carry a copy of the man pages around with them, you arrogant git.
And the women would be wearing even skimpier costumes.
I suppose a person can like the Windows UI without liking one or more of these:
1) The frequent crashes.
2) The increasingly exorbitant cost.
3) MS's monopolistic business practices.
It's like saying I want a pepsi that looks and tastes like Coke
I think of it instead as someone saying, "I want a Coke that looks and tastes like Coke but isn't loaded with sugar and caffeine."
Nah, we bash MS because of their illegal and immoral business practices and because of the shoddy quality of their products, given the high price.
So you liked it, then?

Jesus Christ. It sounds like you work in a college dormitory. ::shudder::
I guess it won't be a Dodge much longer then, eh?
perl 6.0
Since when has readability been a priority for Perl?

I think Slash goofed. Your post should have been labeled "by Ignorant Fool," not "by Anonymous Coward."
Oh, and your church buddies don't comprise the entire general public.

Stallman doesn't generally get a warm and cozy welcome on Slashdot, either.
I consider the earlier, videogame-based cartoons (Pac-Man, etc.) to be the "beginning of the end".
>> Also not sure if you like Alec or not - one minute you describe him as a brat, later as a good actor.
I think he means Alec is a good actor, but his character is a brat, which isn't true to the book.
>> why is it necessary to compare Dune with Star Wars?
Probably because a lot more people have heard of Star Wars than Dune. It gives them a frame of reference.
I'm guessing the stars with lens flare are nearby (relatively) stars -- part of our own galaxy -- that are "in the way". Because they are closer, they seem much brighter, so they are overexposed.
Why worry about something that doesn't exist?

>> The Bible says the Earth is round,
Actually, it says that the Earth is a circle with four corners.
Yeah, real infallible.
>> and it said that before people believed it.
Ever heard of the Greeks? They figured out the Earth is a sphere by observation and experimentation.
