Dan Lancaster's (of TTL Cookbook fame) column in Computer Shopper? He wrote quite a bit about on-demand publishing back in the 80s & early 90s, and talked quite a bit about "shared SCSI comm" -- basically a SCSI drive connected to both a computer & a printer.
Also, Teri Hatcher, IIRC, majored in math before going into acting. A natural choice, since her folks are both geeks (dad's a physicist, and mom was a programmer).
That's the drive's height; he's talking about a 2.5" laptop drive.

Well, Pilkington does make auto glass -- my new Mitsubishi Diamante has their glass. My guess is that if some European/Asian automaker asks for it, they'll do it if it's technogically feasible (i.e. can it meet safety regs).
Interesting point about radar detectors -- I tend not to use one, since there's not a lot of speed limit enforcement around Atlanta, and the few municipalities that aggressively enforce speed laws tend to use laser rather than radar.
The Rolling Stones(old and dead) would make a good Disaster Area, or perhaps The Who...(loud and louder)
From the books, it seems pretty clear to me that Disaster Area was based on Pink Floyd from the Syd Barrett/Roger Waters era -- several scenes in the book allude to real Pink Floyd events & songs.
Read the link I supplied -- it explicitly states (in paragraph 6) that Hitler told Porsche to make the VW air-cooled. Porsche, not wanting to end up dead, did what der Furher asked.
IIRC, Ted Taylor discussed the ablation issue in The Curve of Binding Energy, referred to in several other posts. During their tests, someone had left a thumbprint on the pusher plate; they discovered that there was less (or maybe no) ablation in the area of the thumbprint. So they came up with the idea of spraying the pusher plate with oil between explosions; ablation problem solved.
FWIW, they consulted with the Coca-Cola company to determine the mechanism for dispensing the nuclear charges -- Coke, having lots of vending machines, knows a thing or two about dispensing cylindrical objects reliably. Taylor didn't say how many quarters it'd take to get to Alpha Centauri, however.
. Most modern digital watches might manage to make a battery last 5-10 years...
Maybe they do on your planet; in my experience, low/mid-priced watches (Casio, Timex, etc.) only get 18-24 months, even though I only use the backlight a couple of times per month.
(Hey, idea for soft drink dispenser makers - serve Coke, and an optional switch to dribble in either lemon or vanilla flavoring in the right proportions while pouring it. 3 beverages available to customer, only one big-azz syrup tank required.)
QuikTrip convenience stores, at least in metro Atlanta, offer cherry & vanilla syrup at their fountains.
Telocity is great. I have nothing bad to say about them.
You obviously don't use their NNTP server;)
Seriously, they are one of the better DSL providers -- they allow non-commercial servers, and provide static IP. However, they recently halved upload bandwidth (at least in BellSouth territory) from 256 kb/s to 128 kb/s.
More like 200 years ahead of the rest of the world in maths theory.
3) Slashdot has been taken over by Big Brother.

The Straight Dope on radio receivers aboard aircraft.

They're not a new thing, either -- this book describes one such design from 30+ years ago.
Actually, it's probably closer to Bacardi 151...

Well, the new Beetle is water-cooled. Besides, the idea for air-cooling the original Beetle came from Hitler.
Well, according to a demonstration favored by the late Grace Hopper, electricity propagates through copper at about 1 ns/foot (a bit over 3 ns/meter).
Of course, that's for an ideal wire -- propagation through coax is about 2/3 that speed, which gets you close to the 5 ns/meter you specify for glass.
but they obviously affect the grammatical skills of the editors.
The iPaq handhelds run on ARM/XScale processors, not X86 compatible.

Note, however, that EVB is quite limited -- it's closer to VBScript than VB.
We'd better keep a couple of humpbacks around, just in case.
How does being an aethist make you unAmerican? I'd LOVE to hear your thoughts on this.
Read George H.W. Bush's thoughts; that's probably what the grandparent post was referring to.

Like these guys?
We know what the Egyptians ate for breakfast how much more will our anscestors know about us?
Nothing -- they're all long dead. Our descendents, on the other hand...
