Nethack also wouldn't be as interesting, especially in the end game. It's partially because that part of the game ramps up the challenge significantly, but it's largely because this character that you've invested time and energy in is on the line and you're so close to the finish line.
Being able to save and reload may keep you from being frustrated, but it also keeps the game from being exciting.
I'm definitely in that boat, and I bought the PS2 a good while after it came out and I still use it for playing DVDs. Why buy another device when I have one that works perfectly fine?

Called something like "That Great Big Bottling Plant In The Sky," it extolls the virtues of how great a world without the EPA and labor disputes could be. You'll never see that on TV.

I'll second that. I had a VIA chipset that wouldn't play nice with my Radeon 9800. After I got an Nvidia chipset, I didn't have any more issues.
