On the same sort of idea, I'll bet Google doesn't actually have the full amount of space available for all their users. (Space = Users x 1000 MB).
I'm sure they have taken into account probably more then 50% of the accounts will never be used, and just be setup by people who want username@gmail.com just in case they decide to use it.
Though, Google can probably expand their network fairly quickly if it does become a problem.
But if it's down for 30 seconds, or if they change a feature, at least 3000+ users are up in arms saying how could they do this to them.
When they added post/comment limiting, I never seen so many angry Internet users in my life. What a surprise that most of the people complaining were the Free Users, because teenagers can't afford $25 a year to get the restrictions removed. Doesn't an N Sync CD cost about $25?
On a small site that I run that requires registration to access all of the information, I would say about 25% of the accounts people sign up for are bogus. Most just make up their details, then the email is in the form of [slam of your keyboard]@[popular Internet service].
Most of the accounts are used once, then never used again. I bet tons of people sign up for ny times, use it until their cookie gets deleted, then just sign up again.
I would suggest she learn graphics + html/css and does some web page stuff. She could put up tips on womenly advice, or maybe a page about a non-computer hobby she likes. She can show it off to her family and friends. This way she can start out with the basics and move up to fancy stuff.
If she gets really into it, she could always then learn one of the billions of web programming languages out there.
When I worked tech support years ago when 56k was high speed Internet, I heard someone on the phone explain why people wouldn't "hack" the customers computer. Apperently, a hacker would have to hack into each router on the Internet, before getting to her computer, which would be a nearly impossible task.
By doing this, they are technically taxing Internet traffic. Right now Vonage adds on taxes for regulatory fees for the Phone number, but by doing this, what prevents New York from saying IM's or email's should be taxed as long distance communication?
I'm disappointed with what Math is required for CIS majors over CS students. I went to college where it was convenient for me, so I could have cared less about the education. This being said, when someone new came in to head the CIS department at my school, they actually dropped Calculus I as a requirement. I was astonished.
Of course, I realize CS and CIS are totally two different things, but what are they telling the students by doing this? That grammar and history are more important parts of IS, then math?
I just don't get it. I was amazed that people in my classes had no idea what binary and hexadecimal numbers actually where, forget about actually converting from decimal between the two.
I'm still saying maybe 10% of all colleges actually educate their students with useful curriculum.

Like M&M's I should be able to custom order sets of blocks to build what I want. They shouldn't offer every type in this manner, but if I could go to the web site and setup an order of color and block size and get charged that would be amazing. Even if there was a minimum cost, or you had to buy packs, 20 1x2 for $1, that would be truly a great thing.
People are willing to use iPass which allows them to dial in with a local call around the world for ~$2.50 an hour depending on where they are located. The option of just getting an AOL Account which would provide about the samething for ~$22 a month. They now are offering Wifi. A comparision would be this for $10 an hour vs. $40 for Boingo service. I think people are willing to pay if they are not aware or don't want to deal with alternatives.
Depends who your boss is. I've seen most management level business people say they would rather make it look nicer in their web browser, fully knowing it MAY not work or look awful in 5% of the other browsers.
I found that I would try to do way too much in one day. I would tell myself I would do everything tomorrow in one project. You can break everything up into projects, but also it helps if you break the projects up over time.
So say I have Project A, B, C to do. I would split them up into sub parts, and do something like the following:
Monday A1, B1, C1.
Tuesday A2, B2, C2.
Etc.
The key is to not over work it to or you get sick of it. If you finish all of Monday, try to do something completely different, and don't just move onto Tuesday to try to get ahead. I found myself doing A1-3, then I couldn't do 4-5 for days later cause I was just sick of it.
Of course, just as I am waiting for my GPS to arrive, this news breaks.
How can people that promote the use of parks, say free advertising is bad? Isn't this kind of like Walmart saying we have too many customers cause of our deals, and our products are getting all out of order, so we are banning customers from coming in.
Don't our tax dollars pay for the parks to be there too? Should we also ban walking on our sidewalks, and driving on our roads, because it wears them out?
Actually, they copied off two philosophers for a majority of the ideas in this movie.
First d'Holbach, who was French and discussed Determinism in the 1700's(Take a wild guess who discussed his ideas)

The other view is James, who a bunch of people in the movie touched in (Free Will)

I don't buy it, I download it for free so I don't agree the contract. =)
Cars still come with tape players?
I can't remember when the last time I saw a tape was.

What if they could burn the DVD's at the store though? Then they reduce their inventory to nothing.
Open up Thunderbird and go to File and Import.
You can select Outlook, and import your contacts and all of your email over with no problems.

I'm so glad the Internet police protect me!

Then you search for Dell and you get images back things like this. For some reason, I really want a Dell now.
They are non-migratory though.
purevolume.com has become pretty popular, even though their flash player is horrid.

How about an American _____ where some Brit can make fun of the way there operating system looks.
What comes first, MySQL 4.x Stable or PHP 5 Stable? Don't know which I've waited longer for, one of those or Duke Nukem Forever.
It's all relative. Where do you go on Microsoft's site to find help with MS SQL or ASP?
