    But I don't quite see where the center or new star is. There is a bright star showing from a bit below the center but I think that is just a star behind it. Is there something I am missing that is obviously the "center"?

    Just switch to XFCE or try something different like: awesome, dwm, etc.

    I tried Xubuntu before settling on Mint, I liked it and would go back if necessary. For now I am going to stay with Mint 11 until Mate has had more time to mature and/or GNOME 3 becomes much more like GNOME 2.

    What is wrong with gnome 2? I loved Ubuntu until Unity was crammed down my throat, I switched to Mint. I tried 12 (w/Gnome3) but quickly went back to 11. Can someone please explain why we are "fixing" something that doesn't seem to be broken at all?

    FWIW, I think goatse is (or was) someone at /. with unlimited mod ability. I once made a derogatory comment (on /.) about goatse and a few hours later my comment when from +5 to 0 in about 5 minutes. The 7 or 8 replies to my comment all went from the +2 to +5 range to -1, 0 & 1 in the same time.

    Your rant might be a bit more meaningful if you weren't an AC. Every country does shit that looks bad depending on how you look at it. The EU loves to sit back and let the USA do all the dirty work and then bitch about it.

    I won't say the U.S. is perfect, far from it. I wish we would pull all our troops and influence and aid out of the rest of the world and let them fend for themselves. But as soon as we did we would have dozens of Countries asking or begging for our support. So get the fuck off your high horse and quit insulting others from the safety of your anonymous hole.

    I use chrome more than FF, but I do miss the Google Toolbar available in FF (and IE). You would think Google could find a way to include the Google toolbar in it own browser.!.?

    Also I do have more compatibility problems with web pages in Chrome than FF.

    But every body she corresponds with at school (she is a teacher) and girl scouts uses Office. And she can't or doesn't want to change the format of a whatever she is sent to modify, and then send back. From the other side people would say "why is this a different format than what I sent you", and if they had to send it to someone higher up the management chain, in a OO format, they could get in trouble. Other than than she loved it.

    Fine and thank you (I guess). I wish we would pull out of most if not all countries and scale back our military significantly, but a good portion of the rest of the world expects us to be there when there is war or the threat of it. A lot of Countries have very little military, because they know we are here (or there) to protect them. We are swimming in debt because the world wants us to be the worlds police, and not only do they not pay us for it, we usually pay them in the form of aid. It is royally screwed up.

    As an American, I think we should be much less involved in world affairs, we have our own problems to deal with. Let the rest of the world police itself. That being said, I get sick and tired of assholes (like parent AC) that criticize and bash the U.S. while living in a country that most likely takes aid from us and/or has been protected by our military at their Governments request.

    Surprise surprise, put downs from an AC. There is a reason Ubuntu is the most popular distro, and Mint feels more polished. I researched Debian, Xubuntu & Mint. I tried Xubuntu & Mint and settled on Mint. I'd call you a fool, but I think AC is more appropriate.

    I switched to Mint and like it better than Ubuntu, mainly because a number of the programs I had to install after every Ubuntu install are already installed. That and it reminds me of 10.04 or 10.10, it just works well. Don't know what I'll do when Mint 12 comes out with Gnome 3...

    Exactly, I may have found/installed an obscure program I may use twice a year at best. I can't always remember what it is called. With no easy way to find it, I'll end up with multiple installed programs I forgot I had cluttering up my machine. When I do remember the program, I may not be able to find it.

    I don't get why there is this push away from the program menu we have been using for over 15 years. I still like it. Just because it has been around a while doesn't mean it needs to be replaced. I switched from Ubuntu after 5 years to Mint to get away from Unity, now Mint is going to Gnome 3. I'll try that, but if it is too much like Unity, I'll probably go to Xubuntu.

    With the cell processor design of the PS3, increasing performance should be easy and it should be able to retain backward compatibility w/o much if any trouble. With as inexpensive as ram is now , hopefully there will be no reason to skimp there.

    I remember that the Amiga OS was fundamentally different than other computers of the time, is that still the case? I had an Amiga 500 and it was so far ahead of its time. Does it really bring anything to the table now though?
