  1. Subspace... on NASA DTN Protocol: How Interplanetary Internet Works · · Score: 1

  2. My thoughts on Ask Slashdot: Which Virtual Machine Software For a Beginner? · · Score: 1

Virtual box is nice and easy and a great emulator for beginners. VMware player (free) does a MUCH better job with 3D video, but is a little harder to use. Also, my video rating with VB running Win 7 w/Ubuntu host is 2.3 w/VMware it is 5.5, A very significant difference. One thing I have noticed though is VMware uses more memory in host (Ubuntu) than VB.

  6. Fuck hearing aids... on Why Can't Industry Design an Affordable Hearing Aid? · · Score: 1

When are we going to be able to repair hearing? We can fix eyes (Obviously they are not at all the same). I am an audiophile who spent 20 years piecing together my dream stereo system. I really love music, for a month or two it brought tears to my eyes, the sound was so beautiful. Then I woke up one morning and everything higher pitch than about vocal range in my left ear was gone and I have tinnitus in the same ear. I can't sit down and listen to music anymore, the ringing and unbalanced hearing destroys stereo imaging and is just plain annoying. Anyway, hearing aids won't help, I hope that before it is too late for me, they are able to repair damage with surgery or something. (Sorry, I know this was a bit off topic).

With every release, part of me wants to stick with what I have. It is all set up and customized to my liking. The other part wants the new features available in the latest version. But since upgrades still commonly don't work well, I have to to start all over with a fresh install.

I would be happier with every 12-18 months or maybe even 2 years. Maybe I should try Mint Debian...
