heh, wonder how many XBox owners are kicking themselves for buying a PC you can't upgrade (easily).
Especially now that Halo is coming to the PC and Mac.
I dont see this chipset being of much interest to slashdotters - personally I hate getting sound and ethernet on board. If I wanted a computer that was tough to upgrade I'd have bought an iMac;-)
That would sensibly be covered by existing murder and man-slaughter laws.
The internet and computers are not some how "special" and "different" - they should and must be subject to the same laws as every other human endeavour. No need for endless special legislation - well except for the senator from disney and his cronies to promote their pay-master's interests.
More to do with admin set up.

We use outlook and exchange server where I work.
Never, ever, seen a virus in the two and a half years I've worked here.
Why ? because the admins know what they're doing and catch all the viruses before they ever get anywhere near us delicate users.
I'm not an especial fan of MS (I'm a bastion of Java in a sea of MS where I work) but all the sniping at Outlook is just bs. People target outlook and other MS products because it's popular. I mean, why bother writing a virus that targets some system only a couple of geeks ever run ?
The key factor is competent admins, properly configuring and defending the systems they're responsible for.
Actually to be a bit more nit picky, it depends on when you are talking about.
Henry VIII for example, was neither Your Highness nor Your Majesty but Your Grace. Sycophants invented Your Highness and Your Majesty later.
I submitted the same story on friday, except mine had a lot more detail, including for example the fact that the author was given as "An English Person J K Rowling" and that the book had JK Rowling's picture on the sleeve and that Harry gets caught in a rain of sweet and sour !
Oh, and that JK Rowling's reps were apparently investigating.
Strange how/. picked the submission with the least information. .
Would anyone have even considered making the case that the publication date for a print document was the last time someone bought or read a copy ?
Hope the idiots who made the argument had to pay all the costs.
Hmm well the guy you were replying to had obviously never passed a history exam, but neither it seesm did you.
The 13 colonies *did* fight for and win their independence.
In 1812 the US did try and invade Canada - and had their arses whipped and their capital burnt down for their trouble.
>>Gracefully? By the end, we fought on England's terms and thrashed them handily. (And again some years later.)
Funny I thought it was the US's army that got it's arse kicked when it attempted to invade Canada and it's capital that got burnt to the ground in 1812.
The US has only won one war against England (admitedly the most important). Although strictly speaking the US didn't exist then, it was the 13 colonies. So the score US versus England would be 1-0 to England;-)
Given the US's many well deserved triumphs, I am surprised you have to invent one.
I have a top of the range vcr - well it was when I bought it anyway:-)
I used to think the fact it picked up the date and time over the airwaves was pretty great - until it got it wrong, insisisting it's 8am when it's 8pm and I discovered there was no manual way to set the clock...
Oh well, thank goodness for Tivo - well except when it gets its knickers in a twist over channels and screws up recording Band of Brothers:-(
>>HAHA, the Mac will eventually dominate the planet as planned!
I don't think so.
Lets face it, Geeks prefer Linux, and end users prefer the os they use at work every day: Windows.
Subjective "Cool" and "best" have no chance.
I think you're living in a dream world.
The best hardware and software, even when combined, don't always win, and even when they do they generally don't do so because they were the best.
I would have thought betamax, os/2 and linux would have told you that.
Personally I've always considered Apple to be a far worse company than Bill's - they're just nowhere near as competent from a business pov.
"I already have a Cray, it's called a Commodore 64 though it only has 64k memory and a 6502 processor".
I'm surprised no-one has mentioned the new iPod.
20gig, thinner, no moving parts (the controls moved before), carry case, remote control.
Also available is a windows version (basically its integrated with Musimatch).
Best of all, it's cheaper than the old 10gig iPod and I've just ordered one!

"Yes Lady Brass, it's a back-up device for all the critical data on my PC." :-)
Probably just a moment of utter stupidity and now their lives are screwed. Bet they're wishing they could slingshot around the sun...
Yes, but a plain-old chipset hardly warrants /. space - it's interesting because of the geforce connection.

Shame it will doubtless be used by paedophiles, nazis, George Double-Yah Bush and other terrorists etc etc.
The price of freedom isn't just eternal vigilance.
