The bookstore isn't keeping track of who bought the book, and I don't have to ask for their permission each time I go to read it.
If iTunes songs didn't authenticate off of Apple servers, your criticism would work. Unfortunately, they do. Therefore, Apple retains at least some responsibility for the ownership and transfer rights.
If you design with straight CSS2 / XHTML Transitional for everything, and use all server-side components for handling anything that would require more (posting data, working with a database, etc.), then what's the big deal?
I did this working at a local computer shop once...
The customer's hard drive failed, just wouldn't spin up or get detected by the BIOS. It just so happened, I had an identical drive (Quantum Bigfoot) just sitting around in the shop.
Couple of minutes later, and the old drive spun anew with the new board attached! Then, noting my recent success, the powers that be decided to laugh it up a little -- a loud *ker-THUNK* and the drive was no more. Physical media failure.
One reason that telephone support techs are so irritable is not just due to stupid users who won't listen -- its' due to power users who won't cooperate.
I've had more then my fair share of people who don't think they know more then me, they KNOW they do. They can't seem to get it in their head that I am sitting in the chair at the help desk and they are not -- they need to be patient and do as I ask in order to get any help, because for all I know, they are a raving lunatic who just likes to pretend they know a lot about computers.
Google is working on a separate search for blogs only. Rumor has it that blogs will be removed from the primary search results once this occurs, but it remains to be seen.
This has nothing to do with the fact that Google purchased blogger.com, I'm sure.;)
You are most likely thinking of this beastie. It was read-only, and came in two versions: Palm OS and Pocket PC. It was meant as a quick way to access read-only data at times when it was inconvenient to whip out your PDA.
Kinda flopped at retail, from what I remember, mostly due to its' massive wrist real-estate and hard to push buttons.
That being said, it would be interesting to see these two discuss issues with each other, rather then answering questions and not interacting with the other side.
Debates between two intelligent people like this are a relatively straightforward way of determining which argument holds up and which one was contrived for the sole purpose of masking another intent.
From a random article about the WiMax 802.16a standard: "802.16 WirelessMAN (Metropolitan Area Network) fixed wireless broadband, has a range of up to about 30 miles with data transfer speeds of up to 70mbps". Also, "802.16a is considered the next step beyond WiFi because it is optimized for broadband operation, fixed and later mobile".

Sure, it's all well and good to display sensitive information with a special border, but what if someone writes down what they see and then leaves it just lying around? Where's your special borders then?
The solution is obvious: don't display the data at all!
Remember when we were but wee lads, and could watch cartoons, without secretly analyzing the reality of the physics behind them? Oh, the price we pay for jobs where we can post comments on Slashdot from the comfort of our office chairs.
While I'm at it, how can Wonder Woman fly an invisible jet? How does she even remember where she put it?
Just attach mirror links to comments and moderate them accordingly. +4 or better and bamf, mirror link at da top. Top three moderated get listed? Sounds good to me.
Flawed analogy.

Of course, if you do that, then IE is the only one you have to actually worry about.
I don't want to have to buy CivIII for Windows AND Linux.

Yeah, like XEyes!
Does junk mail sent to your work or residential address through the standard postal service fall under this as well?
I receive more then my fair share of junk through the USPS, and I certainly can't put a strainer over my mailbox to filter any out.
How is this different?
