PC speed is not an improvement because Flash ads eat away at the few dozen MB left over by XP in a 1/2 GB system, while swapping kills any benefit by adding orders of magnitude to the waiting process.
If flash ads eat memory, you don't have the necessary plugins installed.
Maxwell's equations are just a very special case of the standard model of particle physics (only the simplest interaction, operating in the classical limit). All you need to teach is the standard model and general relativity. All other established theories of physics are ultimately just special cases of those. Indeed, for computers, you can probably omit general relativity.
OK, after looking at the Gallery I think they meant meters, not kilometers - you doubleclick right offshore to mark where, uh, the news crews will congregate? Wave fronts are a bit more diffuse than that, I believe.
Thanks for the hint. I now can create tsunamis as well. And I learned that even kilometer high tsunamis won't go very far.;-)
I'm sure it can be trained to press the power button on a Linux computer. It probably would also be able to use the keyboard. However don't know if it would be able to read the messages on the screen.
You can reduce the size by 80% and get the same amount out of them.
Really? And if they improve the efficiency by 100%, I don't need any solar cells at all to get the same power? (100% less!) Actually, with 80% more efficient solar cells, you could reduce the size only by about 44% to get the same power.
Efficiency does matter. It won't help you if someone invents solar cells which cost 1 cent per megawatt, but have an efficiency of 10^(-20) (yes, I can also make up ridiculous numbers:-)).
Well that was useful. The dictionary might as well say: "Chemical: everything"
No. "Everything" would include e.g. the following non-chemicals: * Electrons * Neutrons * Neutrinos * Light * Vacuum * Energy * Momentum * Information * Ideas * Mind * History * Slashdot * HTML * HTTP * Computers * Houses * Planets * Stars * Movies
Note that some of the above are composed of chemicals, while others are contained in chemicals, and yet others are completely unrelated to chemicals. But none of them are chemicals.
Actually I wouldn't care if it is highly configurable if it were configured out of the box to work in a way I like. But since the probability of getting that is quite low, the next best choice is a system which I can reconfigure to work the way I like it.
Just get a demon to sort more and less energetic particles into separate sides of a wall. The only waste is that you have to destroy a huge amount information to offset the order you're creating.
Long ago I decided to no longer do that sort of work. It's just too boring. Sorry.
I pay for the water I use... I wouldn't let my neighbor fill their pool or water their lawn from my faucet. I pay for the phone I use... I wouldn't run a line across the yard for my neighbor to share my phone. I pay for the electricity I use... I wouldn't run a line across the yard for my neighbor to share my electric service. I pay for the internet service I use... why on earth would I just give that away for free to anyone who just wandered by!?!?!?!
You're just socially irresponsible. I guess you also lock your front door when you leave your house, right? Oh, don't tell me about thieves. Yes, they exist, but why should they just happen to come to your house? Most people are honest, you know? Someone might just need your house to stay dry when it rains. What, umbrella? You don't tell me that everyone should pay the cost of an umbrella, just because you are afraid of thieves! Also, if someone really steals something from you, how do you know he doesn't need it more urgently than you? Actually it's socially irresponsible to prevent them from stealing it! Instead you should stuff your house with things to steal, to make sure that nobody who is in need won't find anything because someone else already took all of it. That would be socially responsible!

Microsoft Internet Explorer is clearly superior in every way.
Especially on Linux. :-)

I couldn't get it to work in the ocean, either. I always got told that my tsunami didn't reach land.
is of course Lynx.
Aside from that Opera should require at lot less resources.
telnet on port 80 is clearly less memory! :-)
Pretty sure Linux runs on a CPU, rather than the other way around.
Unless the CPU is emulated. Then it might run on Linux.
Does it run Linux?

I wouldn't feel comfortable allowing a tornado to throw bombs around.
If an FDR can survive that, it can survive damn near anything.
But can it survive millennia under water?
After millennia under water, probably nobody will still know how to read it out anyway.
It's nuclear powered and produces lots of dangerous, cancer-causing radiation. :-)

Ubuntu has a release number as well. I currently have 10.10 on my laptop; I don't know which animal that corresponds to.
Is Mahatma Gandhi the next Hitler?
Is Anonymous Coward the next Godwin?
Is that the version for meteorologists? :-)

If you don't like unity so much, install GNOME/KDE/Whatever on it. Its a very simple process.
Or switch to *ubuntu. (Kubuntu,Xubuntu or whatever)
Much easier than trying to configure Debian...
So I guess we will now also get Gubuntu, for those who prefer Gnome to Unity?
The last release will probably be the "Zombified Zebra" :-)
Well, you'll get your money back. The only problem is: Do you have an idea how worthless the dollar will be in 10000 years?

They will not make that heat pump for too long anyway. After all, it will take 10000 years before anyone orders a replacement.
Yeah, that and the endless US bashing, eh?
Could be worse: Imagine US tcshing! :-)
