..... Walt Disney was really an alien? That explains the Disney characters..... it was all an attempt to convince us that weird looking creatures with big black ears were our friends - damn those mouseketeers
I wonder what type of weird experiments happen behind closed doors at Disneyland in those areas marks "Employees Only".....
"Video CDs offer one of the lowest-cost ways of distributing training and instruction. They can be duplicated much faster than VHS videotapes, the media is much cheaper and the postage costs are much cheaper."
can you say "pirated" - thats the main reason VCDs seem to have existed in Asian countries for YEARS now. They get used for anything that can be seen on TV, whether it be movies, TV, karaoke or educational productions. Standalone VCD players are even cheaper than the cost of 2-3 original DVDs. Perhaps with the acceptance of DVD players in western countries that also play VCDs, western educators are finally aware of techniques what asian countries have known and used for years.
How much functionality do the VideoCD 2.0 and 3.0 standards give the developer? Is it still just simple menus and chapters? If anything more than this was needed, then you are back to having to use multimedia CDs in a computer.
Anyone know where I can get "Afterschool Chinese" on VCD?
apparently it is something to do with the fact that outside is too damn cold to do anything and beer is expensive..... so they stay home and use the computer.
Moust countries have what is known as the "opposition" which tend to play the role of wanting the opposite of what ever the elected party wants. Are you saying the opposition would allow these polling machines to be created WITHOUT being satisfied the voting system will not be rigged (any more than it may currently be...) ?
Heck.... this is one of the reasons why voting hasn't gone electrnic everywhere - the parties don't trust each other to not play "mates" with the system developers. eg. Fiji uses the old paper in a locked box method and even that has to be UN supervised in the last election to make sure less than the usual amount of cheating took place.
Make a machine to design a trustworthy voting system..... humans bring "doubt" to a system when they are involved.....
I am not American so I am not "educated" in your state geographics. I was not able to access their website either...../.ed perhaps?
A) Thanks for clarifying that.... as I said I have no idea where West Palm Beach is. B) See A C) See B D) ok - national % E) hmm.... seems Florida has 5.2% more old people than the national average - not a large difference but still significant. F) but Tampa seems to be on average with the rest
of the country so all the American sitcoms, other movies and TV shows (even Price-Waterhouse-Coopers employees I met in regards to trainign here) that refer to Tampa being full of old people must be taking the piss out of Tampa..... G) WOAH, you just proved my point - the number of old people living in PALM BEACH COUNTY is almost twice the national average.
... and after viewing the US census page it appears that FLORIDA has the highest percentage of old people in the USA (old people state of the USA ???) - so it seems that PALM BEACH not TAMPA might be the capital in regars to old people %.
someone please mod this guy up - he actually took the time to provide figures that proved useful in my attempt at humour.
...a human's ability to bitch/whine/moan/complain about anything to do with voting.
Seeing how they can't blame machines for miscounting (the usual reason/excuse for a recount) they decided to blame a "confusing" interface. I wonder if there is a relationship between the political preferences of 8 affidavits and the party/person who lost the election......
I would like to see one of these boxes in use... I bet the interface is a simple ATM like one where you press this button for this action..... as simple as crossing a paper box.
oh wait.... this is Tampa, Florida - old people capital of the USA..... another case of technology being "bad" and confusing for old people ?
I just realised, in the 6 months I have been in China I have not seen ANY VCRs or VHS cassettes.... just VCD players and VCDs - maybe I need to look harder.
BBC and CNN are both still blocked but their are plenty of sources for the same news that are not blocked.
I sometimes consider CNN and BBC to be the trolls (same crap over and over with hype and FUD whenever possible) of the news world...... I don't miss their websites.

I can imagine that now.... geeks dropping dead from the physical stress on their bodies from excercise - hope the paramedics are on standby.
and the ones that do live will be yelling "I fragged you" or "Where is the Quad damage?" or "Map change!!!" or "farking aimbot cheater!!!"......

no showers is normal..... but a high chance of a sun tan? Surely that would be bag for their "nerd" image.
Make a small fortune selling zinc cream and other high strenght sun preotection lotions to protect that white pasty skin....

USA ~ a country that is known to host international events and only invites themselves.

wasn't the Ballmer reference in the article referring to a money deal between the Chinese government crackign down on MS product piracy....
:)
Sounds like they want to be paid by MS for NOT using pirate copies and put that money into development of a MS OS replacement.... win-win for them
- HeXa
But the point of the article was the computers using this software would be "older" as well.
They seem to be taking their current installations of older equipment which do the required task fine as is and just replacing the OS
Eventually they will probably move onto replacing MS Office.....

..... which would get the use put in jail - don't forget China's stance on pornograhpy distribtuion is quite harsh.
