What the parent to your presumptive post argued is spot on. You went and jumped the rails assuming his company is the same as yours and must therefore be a boldfaced lie.
If the polar ice caps on Mars have been getting smaller (or other planets observed as also warming) at the same time the Earth is warming, is Global Warming still the cause of humans?
So, if you want to draw a conclusion on this, if the sunspots are low, and the earth is still getting hotter...
Are Sun spots the only indicator of energy output from the Sun?
There are plenty of examples of God showing himself to be love in the Old Testament and at least one example of God being a decisive judge on the wickedness of a man (and his wife)... Not to mention all that goes down in the book of Revelation.
The more you study the whole Bible, the more you recognize its unity.
Good. Because what the liberals in Congress do from day to day already weakens the U.S. and that on all sides:
Economy: taxes raises - At least Kennedy recognized that tax cuts increase Treasury coffers while simultaneously strengthen the economy - we have been at record low unemployment rates.
War: Where to start...?
Forked Tongued: they speak out of both sides of their mouth; condemning the troops' work why 'claiming' to support them - this is only because of the lessons of how the Baby Boomer generation treated the troops during Vietnam - read: Clinton, Kerry, and their ilk
Downsizing: in the 1990's Clinton significantly reduced the size of our standing military, which leads me into the following:
Enemies?: Is it too unpleasant for them to think about foreign enemies? No, they just see political enemies as the greater threat to what they want most: Power (see below)
They Love Defeat: of their political enemies - thus, because President Bush is a non-Democrat, they take on this air of defeatism, ~"the war [in Iraq] is lost" (Harry Reid), ~our troops bomb innocent civilians~ - implying on purpose (Barack Obama), John Murtha declared a small group of Marines guilty of murder before ANY investigation or trial was launched - and now those murder cases have been or are being thrown out of court... all these shenanigans for the sake of discrediting President Bush and any other non-Democrat
Double Mindedness: they condemn the war, read: President Bush, or 'President Not-a-Democrat', while refusing to laying it on the line to defund it.
"the Democrats in Congress are a bunch of spineless..." - there you go
Power: they love it and will do any thing to get to it - yes, I believe they, as a whole, will do any thing to get it
Politics and Party: because they lust after Power they will put their Party first - Bill Clinton was a convicted felon, told lies like Scotter Libby, but the Democrats of the then sitting Senate would not stand up for truth, justice, and morality and follow through on the impeachment that had begun in the House of Representatives
"the Democrats in Congress are a bunch of spineless...": They won't really fight for what you believe in. You and your values are the last thing on their minds. So, they play to what they believe the middle of the road of America which doesn't believe they way you do (nor I on the whole). So, they continue to fight for the P's: Power and Party via Politics - because playing to the moderates, unlike you and I, is their means of getting into the White House...I'm just glad they won't win.
Lastly: whatever and whoever isn't Power and Party - you, me, even the ideas they want to push forward are last to them
Regardless of time-based attacks, the fact that time-correct logs are very important to security should prompt them to push the update... if one wants to use their excuse. And I say 'excuse' because 'non-security' is not a good enough reason to not update something so foundational to a properly functioning OS.
Perhaps they are merely observing the nature of time -> the past being a sort of parallel universe that has split off from this current universe to which we can, now, never travel to.
That's what I was going to post and then I saw what you wrote:
Yeah, yeah, I know it only affects physical outcomes.
Which plays directly into mass=time=space -> which equates time with the physical.
P.S. Feel free to punch any holes into what I've posted.
Admins are dollar savers, whereas floor workers and business development types are money makers.
I think that well defines my frustration with this quantification (as far as the poster has described their situation).
Those are also very good suggestions about try to quantify it as well. They also go in with another poster's:
I think having the responsibility to set one's own metric is great in two ways. The boss is giving you control over what you consider success and failure.
1) You can lower the bar.
2) You can have a quantifiable tool to get more money for projects.
Which they summed up with:
The boss is trusting you, it's your responsibility to take advantage of that trust.
While I wouldn't look for ways to get over on the company, I would definitely look to report the 'quantifying/defining of admin productivity' as part of my accomplishments during the review period; I'm sure my managers would be proud of that. Such an endeavor would require a lot of back and forth between myself, users, other admins, the manager, other managers (who require IT services), etc. -> I think it would bring it all back to your point about quantifying dollars saved: Why don't they just go ahead and make reports about what didn't happen to them this year and thus all the money they saved because 'We didn't have an earthquake, tornado, fire, employee-go-postal, nor IRS audit this year... All for a total savings in the billions -> We're rich!'
Disclaimer: this has nothing to do with the parent and every thing to do with TFQ being asked.
Uptime.
If that's too general then it can be tempered with recommendations about hardware/software reliability, functional expectation verses reality (like budget or current infrastructure, like hardware/software, potential and functionality), projected time lines (as provided by you admins) and your integrity in making stated deadlines.
But, I expect that you are just in for a rotten time under this nimrod. Have you asked nimrod what a "*Nix Admin unit of production" is? If he cannot answer that question then you should be confident enough in your admin qualifications (should you need to find another job) to challenge him on this, since nimrod IS the MANAGER -> the LEADER who should be providing these metrics to you and not making YOU do HIS work! They hired you to do a specific job and if THEY don't remember what that job is, perhaps you better recognize that their ship is sinking: bail, bail, bail!

Mr Slippery slope, just to address the root of your misconceptions; from your sig:
You cannot wash away blood with blood
Says who? You? Justice is only served when the one who kills is killed.
Since you do not understand justice I can hardly expect you to understand much of any thing else, let alone the intents of a world leader whom you know not. I dare also say that you and your ilk are the ones lusting for the death and destruction in that, concerning these men you so revile, you go about spouting off about how you hope they have a massive stroke or heart attack and die.
And don't get me started about the babies in the womb: the most innocent of them all.
"...and shows the administration's misplaced priorities: using FBI agents to track down leakers instead of processing intel warrants to close the [purported surveillance] gaps."
Next time you're on a boat with a leak whether that leak gets fixed in transit or whether the 'gap between you and land gets filled' will depend on the severity of the leak... and whether it's too late to fix.
I doubt the general public, at least for a decade or so, will be allowed to know how much of an impact the leaker (whomever it was) had on our work to protect ourselves, the which IS needed - just check the threats that are actually coming in across the news. In any case it was damaging.
FDR saved capitalism from itself by regulating it.
Shyster.
That socialist, at best, prolonged the suffering of the United States in the 1930's by his horrible administrative means. Most depressions, or economic corrections, don't last for more that 4 fours: he made it last almost 3 times as long - 11 years.
He was sympathetic to the communists and helped them to take over Eastern Europe after World War II. Can you say: 'Blood on his hands'?
His extensive government programs DID NOT help the United States. At best they slowed the people in their economic recovery. At worst, and this is extremely damaging, he shaped the people into being dependent, instead of interdependent, on the government (the liberal's Utopia) for their basic needs. Germany started doing that in the late 1800's: from the cradle to grave - and look what came from them in the next century: the main villain in two World Wars and a Holocaust.
Oh, yeah, I forgot: thank you FDR for the fiasco that is Social Security!
What you described is called: MANAGEMENT
What the parent to your presumptive post argued is spot on. You went and jumped the rails assuming his company is the same as yours and must therefore be a boldfaced lie.
Don't listen to your detractors: doctors and lawyers have to 'practice' their profession - why not researchers/scientists?
In this case, they practiced their research and got it perfectly right! ;)
You are spot on.
Besides, haven't we learned anything from Hollywood? If we alert the aliens to our presence they'll just come and make food and sport of us!
It was perfect. And what really made it funny to me was its foundation in illegitimacy.
Either ol' Daryl is a good salesman or those investors are idiots....
it might be both!
I see you and raise you this:
If the polar ice caps on Mars have been getting smaller (or other planets observed as also warming) at the same time the Earth is warming, is Global Warming still the cause of humans?

No, silly! They don't read your mail because even if Microsoft wanted to they wouldn't know how to... efficiently.
Good. Because what the liberals in Congress do from day to day already weakens the U.S. and that on all sides:

Wow. You must be the 'angry' twin then; who 'tugs' at their goatee and laughs!? Stroking: yes. Tugging: no.

I'm so glad I went on a rant last night.
That's great clarification that needed to be made. (lest a manager read my post and think otherwise)
