  1. Varying types of success on What Should I Do With My Life? · · Score: 2
There are a lot of different types of success, many of which contribute to the overall picture and/or interact with each other.

    • Financial Success: For a lot of people, this means a settled life without debts. Or, in other circumstances, debts that are managable (loan for a house etc). This ties in very closely to one's job and income, but can also be more directly related to lifestyle. If you can make ends meet, and still have a little to save (or treat yourself) at the end of the month, you're really not doing that bad.
    • Family Life/Interralation: Not everyone wants marriage and kids, but it's a big factor for many. Such things often tie in to Financial Success... since kids cost money and significant others can either contribute or assist in the debt load. Meeting that "significant other" and keeping the sparks alive is a big point to many people's lives, as is raising children. For others, sometimes all they need is a few good friends, slashdot, and a poodle.
    • Social Life: While oftimes tying into your relationship, this aspect would cover the less intimate interactions in life. It's good to have some close friends whom you can invite over for dinner and coffee, or perhaps somebody to help you through the tough times, when your wife leaves you and takes the poodle...
    • Leisure Activities: This is a part of life a lot of people don't catch onto... getting out and actually doing something. If your job is burning you out, then take some time on your breaks to get out and do something enjoyable. If you're not drowning in debt, then chances are you can afford to got out for dinner, catch a movie, and maybe do some bowling every few weekends.Even cheap fun is better than no fun
    • Possession: Car, house, furniture, TV, an Athlon XP, the latest Radeon, and a copy of Doom3 when it comes out (warning, too much doom3 may conflict with all the above: wife, friends, and job)

    • This is all IMHO of course, and I'm sure somebody can add to this list

A pre-downloaded site wouldn't be overly up-to-date, so for non-specific one would still be better off with the radio.

With a live connection to the internet for news downloads (news should be text only... not too much bandwidth needed), and a decent sounding voice agent, this would be a lot more interesting and useful.

If piped through the car speakers, it also wouldn't be much more distracting than having the radio on to the news, unless you're trying to claim a first-post on slashdot while driving.

That was my take on things too. I'm assuming they meant the information on the hard drives was lost, but the drive went with the PC. Unless of course the hard drives were rack-stored in a drive-bank - in which case individual drives could have been stolen (indicating that the thieves were after the data, not the hardware). Still, after dealing with tons of clients for computers who refer to the system (chassis/box, drives, etc) as a "hard drive", I'm guessing that you're right on that guess.

It's pretty hard to make an educated guess/decision on something with such sparse details, hopefully we'll hear more from this a little later - and find out that "hard drives"="full PC's."

Regardless of the target, I have a feeling the military will be doing a detailed investigation. If it's just common crooks, they could find themselves in a whole lotta trouble after messing with the military.

    a) Problem with ex-girlfriend. A "good samaritan" saw "a dispute", called it in, and I landed in court. Nobody believes when a woman is the one beats you down, even if you're the one with a black-eye and split lip.

Now, I'm sure there are other things they can dredge up to make me appear guilty. Police, at least around here, have also been known to be somewhat liberal with the "truth", especially when there's no evidence against any claims they make.

So, you could still get several (almost 15) hours of DVD (at 104.3gb/hour) on the actual presentation DVD. Less at a higher res - or for a large screen - but you should still be able to get more than 90.

I'm still wondering at what rate those cameras record though... at high res it would still have to get in the >=100MBps area. And for such resolution to be displayed at 100+MBps would be beyond the capabilities of modern players max speed. You'd have a virtual helicopter in your DVD-ROM otherwise... lots of power use too.

At 10MBps it would imagine it looks pretty damn good, and 10x60x90=54,000MB (36GB). At 100Mbps it's 540Gb. It is roughly a rate of (a little less than) 200MBps, because that's what it would take to be able to use use 1 TB on 90 minutes of movie. That being considered... I know of nothing that plays movies at 200MBps. DVD-ROM's could not spin fast enough... and I think the processor/memory load would be astronomical.

Also, why would it be better in film when a lot of these movies are starting to be being RECORDED in digital? I'm guessing even the movie studios aren't using hundred-thousands of Terabytes of digital video. Going from a digital medium to an uncompressed digital medium... loss should be low if not null.
