    Ummm, this is "hacking" something you own, for use on your own computer. It would be as if turning on the car with the left turn signal on allowed you to bypass the car's onboard computers check for genuine $CORP parts.

    How is a P2P filesharing app legitimate? It's copyright infringement 99% of the time. It's so they can grab music, porn, and movies off the internet.

    All I know about the subject is that I couldn't get Slackware 9.1 isos until some of the mirrors got them up, about a week after the torrent because available.

    Bittorrent appears to be the savior of the slashdotted oss project...

    Uhhh, the Navy only uses F-16s as land based modified "Aggressor" aircraft for training their pilots against a something resembling an enemy aircraft.

    F-14 Tomcats, F/A-18 Hornets, E2s, and all other carrier based aircraft however operate off both Carriers and off the land. They are quite capable of taking off and landing in both environments.

    Of course that can be modded. A friend of mine has a 1 watt omnidirectional mounted on top of a TV antenna in his back yard. This base station can be picked up for a mile around his house with his 3 foot omnidirectional on his SUV.

    One of these days I'm going to have to find his house by homing on that wifi signal...

    So because a school doesn't teach to a standardized test it isn't a "focused education"? It seems to me that the common denominator isn't public schools, it's the automatic nature of SATs.

    You have to master (or be working hard towards) the technical aspects of something before you can have "fun" with it. Be it music, coding, or any language. If you are unable to write effectively then you will be unable to properly assert your point, which means that no matter how nifty an idea you have in your head, your reader will still understand it very well because you haven't done a good job explaining yourself.

    And no, I have not been taught very good grammar myself. I suppose its pretty damned good for coming out of Kentucky though...

    We can trace back many of our problems to events set in motion at the Civil War (which expanded state power) and the New Deal (which expanded state power).


    You meant Federal power, not State, right? Both of those events limited State power and increased Federal power.

    How do you order something without leaving a delivery address? If you're going to go pick it up yourself, why not pay cash in person?

    And besides, the interstate highway system could be used by terrorists to quickly move people and supplies around. Should we shut down highways because of this use?
