All groups have a certain element that will take things to the extreme, Open Source has them, Microsoft has them, hell have you seen Bingo night down at the local town hall? The question you have to ask yourself is whether these extremists truly represent the main stream or whether they are just a bunch of nuts who should be treated the same way you would treat any other irritant.
Part of what has powered the acceptance of GPL software in the business area has been the fact that if you are just using the software internally you are not forced to release any changes you have made to the code.

Umm nope, the only campaign finance reform that makes sense is to ban all forms of campaign finance except that allocated by an independant Electoral Commission based on a per vote basis.
You remove all laws regarding the financing of political campaigns and you are going to have much worse than just the mega corps buying your senators, how about the senator for North Korea or the Congress Man for China?
Last I checked electricity production was not limited to coal burning. Thus by introducing the infrastructure now, when new less polluting means of electricity are commercially developed it will mean no major overhaul.

Most of the country was occupied up until 1942 when Vichy France was finally overrun after the Vichy forces in North Africa surrendered.
This idea that the French are the stereotypical "Cheese Eating Surrender Monkeys" is complete bullshit, sure they can be insufferably arrogant and for some reason they gave Jerry Lewis an award but unlike the US they have managed to survive two world wars being fought on their soil and still keep going.
