This was at a time when the use of condoms for birth control and aids was a very hot topic with repeated jokes/rumors off the pope/priests putting holes into condoms. This might sound silly but remember, official Catholic doctrine is that condoms should NOT be used, a priest therefor has no reason to put holes in them, since his flock won't be using them, that he is, means he knows his flock is using them despite them burning in hell for it. I don't buy DVD's because of their forced ads.
I don't use streaming services that display ads. Youtube is very easily manipulated to show zero ads.
I have my groceries delivered so I don't have to go to the supermarket and deal with the visual bombardment created to get me to buy stuff I don't want.
I do my tech shopping from pricewatch lists and real user reviews, so I don't have to deal with advertising on product sites and "pro" reviews sites whose product is paid for reviews.

I don't use streaming services that display ads. Youtube is very easily manipulated to show zero ads.
I have my groceries delivered so I don't have to go to the supermarket and deal with the visual bombardment created to get me to buy stuff I don't want.
I do my tech shopping from pricewatch lists and real user reviews, so I don't have to deal with advertising on product sites and "pro" reviews sites whose product is paid for reviews.
THAT is how effective advertisers have become. I didn't used to mind ads but over the last decade they have managed to stimulate my brain into a rabid hatred of even the tiniest exposure to advertising.
And I am not alone. If advertising really worked, they wouldn't have to force it on us. The low point apparently happening in New York were kids were forced to watch commercials in exchange for school. It was a VPRO documentary so it probably was true (they are left-wing but to serious to make stuff up).
Why do you think you can't skip the commercials on DVD's? Because the advertisers are confident you enjoy watching them and want the information? No, because advertisers know all their tricks are useless in persuading people to watch something they don't want to.
Get it, it is the only thing that works.

People have two objectives when voting. Their wallet and their ideals and the wallet overrules their ideals every time during the actual election.
That is why right-wingers love privatization, it means they can score some quick cash to give handouts, buying votes and then when it comes time to pay the price for collapsed industries and sky-rocketing prices, they claim the economy is just bad because of high labor costs.

Don't mix it. Get a real quality piece of meat, a small one and prepare it all on its own and eat it and enjoy it. Don't smother it in gravy or buy it by the kilo. Good things are best enjoyed in small amounts, like a fine whiskey or an excellent wine. You don't mix a fine wine through your spaghetti do you? Dump a fine single malt into coca cola do you?

I have been to America, it is not a place for people with functioning taste buds. Those steaks you see that are so big? In Europe it would be cut in small bits and sold as either for soup or pet food. It really isn't fine meat. But it is big. Which means you spend a lot of time trying to get it down and then to get it to stay down.
If you ever have to stay in the US, find a fucking immigrant the first day then follow him to wear he eats, kill him for his meal (you are doing him a favor, if he was left alive, he too would be turned) and eat it. 2nd generation lost all sense of taste. 3rd generation thinks there is such a thing as a quality fastfood restaurant.

Water is the constraint, not land. There is plenty of land available but no water to make it grow anything. What is needed to feed the world is agriculture that uses as little water as possible so arid conditions can be used for sustainable farming.
Farming corn only makes sense if fresh water was available in infinite supply and land was in short supply. Sadly the reverse is true.
Look up "dessert". Or do you think the dust bowl was an issue because the seasonal land didn't appear? No, it is the lack of water that causes problems. Not the lack of land.
Next time you watch starvation in Africa, take a hard look. What is missing? Water or land?
