    It takes one. Just one.

There has been a lot of research into this field and the basic conclusion is that there are only a few "real" people in the world, the rest are filler.

Simple setup, at a busy public location an actor fakes an incident, say collapsing on the pavement. The results are filmed. What shows? Nobody does anything UNTIL one person does something, then others rush to assist as well following that ones persons example.

It is wrong to think this is malice. There are leaders in our society and there are followers and the followers need someone to give them an example of what to do. How should I react?

Babies already have this, experiment: place a thick glass plate between two solid objects, making a bridge. Place child on one of the objects and encourage it to crawl over the glass bridge (height) to the other. Baby will be happy to do so, or drool, or poop (whipe, change and repeat). If it notices the drop below it, watch its reaction. It won't have one UNTIL it sees its mother. Mother looks happy? Baby happy. Mother looks scared? Baby is scared. Suddenly the height is something it must apparently fear, and it will.

What do you do when an incident happens? I actually know some emergency training because it was forced on me when I did my national service. A few years ago I had a chance to use it... no, that isn't right, a few years ago buried training emerged and took over. I didn't know what to do but my training did. It was on automatic. Had I had to give instructions to someone else to do the same as I was doing, I wouldn't have been able to. If you asked me afterwards what I did, I couldn't really tell you, CPR but not the actions itself.

People are cattle, performing well rehearsed tricks, my trick just happened to include CPR.

If one person shows the right example, the rest will follow and humanity can show itself at its best. If one person shows the wrong example... well... read up on history, things can get very dark indeed.

Oh as for an aid giver being sued? I did crack some ribs of my "patient" an elderly woman who suffered an heart attack right in front of her house, she died a few days later. Her son came to me and thanked me because although cracked ribs hurt like hell and she still died, she died amongst family in a warm bed, not on the street alone. Only in America would a person think of sueing for giving aid. One person showing the wrong example and the rest followed.

We make our own society far more then we think but it is always up to a single individual to lead the way. One must go first.

Just pray you are the one when the call comes unexpected. For 20 years my training went to waste and then I needed it in an instant... those that falter are not evil, they are human. The ones who exploit it, like those who sue or steal from victims, they are the ones to hate.

So don't blame the persons standing around that accident, blame the guy who wanted to sue you for creating the atmosphere of being afraid to help in the first place.

If you don't need to be bad, how the hell did you manage to complete the story line? To me the GTA games seem like a marvelous engine created by some of the brightest in the industry with a storyline written by a particularly angsty and hate filled 12 year old. San Andreas was an absolute low point, there is a word starting with n that applies 100% to the character and then some. You could never find such a waste of air in real life. I played it mostly out of a sick curiousity of just how much a low life that character could be and reminded myself that there was an ocean between me and the writer before I could go to sleep at night.

None of the characters have anything to redeem them. Anti-hero's at least got to have something. It is not even as if you got a choice, there is one path and it would make Anakin Skywalker think twice.

It would seem to be a trend, for a long time fantasy meant high fantasy with good versus evil and you were good... then Dragon Age decided to want to find the angst crowd and made a dystopian fantasy game. If you think seeing everything in black and white is bad, then so is seeing everything in greys. Don't believe me? Someone who thinks only in shades of grey (and almost black and almost white isn't grey) is the kind who think the nazi's weren't all bad or that there is something to say for totalitarian regime etc etc. There are rights and wrongs in the world, only not in the minds of the morally vapid.

But I have always had the hunch that if you wanted to clean up the world morally, your best bet would be to kill every single writer. Who but a writer would kill of an entire planet just to give a character a motivation? More people are killed at the hands of authors then by all wars combined... take the sick fuck who wrote the bible, wipe out all of humanity just to make a moral point?

I am not saying that video games turn people into killers but I am entertaining the idea that the reverse is true. Same as a lot of serial killers turn out to have tortured animals in their life. A sick fuck is a sick fuck and give them a chance to show, it they will. So not 100% of sick fucks in games are serial killers but 100% if serial killers would be sick fucks in a game.

And if you are immediately outraged by this and want to kill me for saying this... point proven.

The Russians had publicity in the west against them so they pulled out of a war that was nothing but negative press to them.

The US was making that bad press and funding the war against the russians.

The Russians may be laughing their ass of at the mess the US has gotten itself into BUT they are not going to aid the taliban just to piss of the Americans.

The US may not be winning the war but they sure as hell are thinning out the Taliban. There is reason the Taliban is using more and more terror tactics in Afghanistan, they are running out of capable recruits.

What you may not have heard is that just after 9/11 the Taliban fielded a fairly capable army and was using traditional war strategies against the Afghani government. They are no longer capable of it. That is not to say the war has been won but you got to have a LOT of hatred to join up for what is practically a suicide mission. Suicide bombers you say? Count them. They have a horrific impact but are totally incapable of being used in any sensible military tactics. Post 9/11 people feared an uprising, the beginning of a new war... but where is the hatred? Just recently Libyan's were shown kissing the US flag for the aid in helping liberate their country. Oh, the US involvement there is far from clean BUT Osama cried for Muslims around the world to rally to a common cause and for 9 years, the answer was silence. There are plenty of individuals with enough hatred but terrorism is hardly new. IRA, Basks, German radicals. There are always going to be people who want to force their minority opinion through violence.

The western world has payed dearly for the war but the price payed on the side of the extremists is far far higher. Their leadership is in ruins, new plots are half-assed and stopped routinely and worsed off all. When the uprising finally started, it was peaceful and directed against Muslim rulers with so far precious little input from extreme Islam. This is not what Osama was dreaming off.

And those who cry about how the west is fighting itself... metal detectors? They have been at airports for decades. Just because the US allowed internal flights to be boarded from the runway by anybody taking anything they wanted doesn't mean that this is the norm. I was search 30 years ago on a boat trip to the UK for crying out load. Maybe the US just needed a wake-up call in general.

As for hatred against the US? There seems to be more hatred amongst rich white boys from the American suburbs then say in Egypt or Tunisia or Libya. Remember the protests in Iran. The ones happening in Syria? Against the evil imparislists! Oh, wait no... they are protesting against their own leaders, leaders who try to use the US as the great Satan and their people are rejecting it.

No, 9/11 saw big changes in the world but I doubt Osama is very pleased with them... even if he was still alive.

But kiddies like you wish to see the world burn and use their own fears to put hatred into other peoples mind, even if those other people got far more important things to worry about. Read the real news for a change, not Fox or the BBC, both are extremists wishing to color the news to suit their agenda but the real news. What real people living real life are thinking.
