  1. War on World Population Expected To Hit 7 Billion In Late October · · Score: 1

What would you call the London riots? Norway? Paris riots?

War isn't always going to be army against army. War can happen right in your home town. It is called civil war. I don't know why, it doesn't seem very civil to me.

  2. And the real reason behind the arab "spring" on World Population Expected To Hit 7 Billion In Late October · · Score: 1, Interesting

The arab nations, even those with high financial wealth never stopped breeding. Some of them managed to finance a relatively high standard of living purely based on oil sales. Iraq? Taxes? Unheard off. Same with Libya, the regime wasn't nearly as brutal as the west currently wants you to believe. Oh, people were tortured and killed but these were on the whole not people the west would like in the first place. See how one of the new libyan leaders was sent over there by the west for questioning.

But there is only so much you can do even with virtually unlimited wealth, the Arab nations exploded because they got to many idle hands. Not exactly poor, they are not starving to death like further down but living an entire life on hand outs creates unrests. And when maintaining the benefits becomes more expensive because of food prices... well... we saw what happened.

That is why China did not explode, China has a high population density and social repression and unfair distribution of wealth BUT people are working. They got a way out, not an easy one and not one that everyone will make BUT there is hope.

China has strict population control and NOT just birth control. You can't just get into China. The west has population control through its culture but is letting in a lot of immigrants. That was fine when there was a lot of work westerners did not want to do and we thought we could afford a large percentage of natives being unemployed (It is a nice capitalist idea that everyone should work for a living but you want to be the boss of someone who only works because he has absolutely no choice?) consuming tax money.

But the economy took a nose dive and suddenly having high un-employment and importing workers seems a bit contradictory.

About the only alternative is to create more work but how? And how are you going to get generations raised on not working, working on boring jobs? It always sound so good, create jobs but even if your scheme has some nice jobs, those will be taken by those with skills. How do you get the average london rioter or paris suburb kid working for a minimum wage in a back breaking job?

See how many of the arab spring protestors are university students complaining they can't find a job? Same in Greece and Italy. What did they study? Islam... liberal arts!... what kinda job creation can you do that demands these skills? There is currently a shortage of all kinds of IT staff especially developers/coders in Holland. Haven't had a job in my entire career as a web developer were we didn't have more then one position open often to anyone in the world... switch a dutch company over to English for one immigrant? No problem. Have seen it multiple times BUT never African (I have worked with a few blacks but their recent roots lie in former dutch colonies and they speak excellent dutch invariably). East European is the main source of IT talent.

This is a huge problem, now the revolutions have happened, things got to change but how? Were are all those people in Libya that got an automatic weapon going to find work? Oil industry? Not with an Islamic education you are not. There is a reason most oil companies are western. That Libya had a HUGE immigrant population itself. Work is hard and a lot of it ain't fun. So when you can avoid it, you will.

Note that this post may sound racist but places like Liverpool and Manchester are much the same, colonies of unemployed white people sustained by a magic income from the rest of the country for so long the culture has changed from factory workers to gangland. And while entire regions have it as the norm not to work, those in power says the country desperately needs immigrants from all over the world to do the work...that is not sustainable. Something has to give... see the riots. And the recent ones in London were not the first and other countries have had them too.

We are living in a world in a which a US coca cola plant is so efficient that a crew of less then a dozen can do in a shift more then a million can's per perso

If you jump on an issue and use it against the other side, the other side will use it against you when it comes time to deliver. take for instance the police. The Tories want safety BUT they are firing a record number of police officers and Labour is just tearing into them for it. The party though on crime? How can that be true if you are firing the same number of police officers as were needed to bring down the riots?

Promise something and you might have to deliver on it and have to deliver on something that you have no control over. Force British Telecom to respect privacy? Good luck, the board knows they got a job for near life, a poltician if he is lucky a job for a year or two at most before he is out by election of cabinet shuffle.

You can't even get rid of an obviously evil and dispised man like Rupert Murdoch. The people wanted his blood and ALL the politicians ended up with is smeared with Ruperts excrement quivering that the NEXT revelation will be about them.

The Liberals made plenty of pledges... like education and then whoops, the political reality of the day is that you sold your soul to the most sleazy party in history and not a single of your campaign promises survives. Gosh, they got a trashing for that didn't they in the most recent elections?

A politician is bound by what he says in the past but has almost no real power. See the recent riots, the public demanded strong punishment, the strong punishment want but now the immidiate outrage is over the bleeding hearts are right there back again with their weak sentencing that created the riots in the first place. Let us remember what the riots were about. A known criminal was shot while in possesion of a loaded weapon, something that is rather worse in a country where most police is not armed. the outcry? A black leader claiming that yes, this known dangerous criminal had a loaded weapon but surely that is not a reason to shoot someone... eh yes it is? Didn't even think of denying that the guy was dangerous or a known criminal or in possesion of a loaded weapon. The community leader has come to see that as normal and how dare the police upset the status quo by denying this man his right to be an armed criminal!

But as said, the first sentences were though and then they were overturned and the public is once again being lead by their media to be told how to feel and the BBC just can't stand to see a criminal in jail. They already had a hard enough time to show black people riotting, you could hear every commentator say that it was a mix of races when every video image showed immigrants. Only a few carefully selected shots showed white people.

Good luck taking a stand as a politician with all this.

Go ahead, take a stand on a single issue and I will show you will be torn apart for it and loose your next election. Right, left or center, don't care.

For the 360 we know they got an insane failure rate and especially American customers seem to think it is perfectly normal to buy a second one instead of insisted the first one be repaired for free.

Meanwhile Sony is not above a little channel stuffing and their hardware is of course used in super computers by the US. Since the US army can build cheap super computers out of them, why wouldn't others?

What market share do the consoles really have? Impossible to tell. You mention kinect vs move. However the real story is both suck donkey balls and just what percentage of kinect sales went to people wanting to play with it on their PC?

I think this round of the console wars has no clear winner and could teach us all a really valuable lesson if we stopped wanting to pick favorites.

There is no way to win a round on a single metric. Profit? MS costs are more then 360 development, they need to recover the original xbox sales too as WELL as the hurt to their other product line, games for windows. Great going MS, you cannibalized you Windows platform for games to be made exclusive to the x-box but that means I can now run OSX or Linux on my desktop since there are no games left to play that force me into having a Windows OS around (Check how much the OSX offering of games has become recently). Also, might it console sales have something to do with how easily it is cracked? How are the software sales? World wide?

Nintendo outsold everyone easily yet that didn't lead to gigantic software sales and with their next console they seem to desperately want to win the hardcore gamer back who wants a bit more then a gymnastics game. So... how do we count that one? Huge win in hardware sales, lost core audience, lost on software sales... winner of most consoles gathering dust? Whoot!

Meanwhile Sony has launched the most expensive console, yet one of its flagship and must have products, FF MMORPG, still doesn't run on it but a humble cheap PC can run it for free? Guess as expensive as the PS3 was, it was beat nearly at launch with the most powerfull PC's of the time and now you can get the cheapest dell and beat the pants of cell (that rhymes!). Might have helped performance more if they had put an ordinary DVD in it and put the money towards a faster HD or even just plain more memory (biggest limit to the PS3 at the moment according to a dutch developer I talked to, you spend a lot of the computing resources just trying to get data in to the fucking machine). Yes Sony is increasing the sales now it has made a price drop but so what? The next race about to start and do they really want to be known as the console maker that you can best buy half a decade after release because it only starts to get decent then?

Meanwhile Blizzard and Valve been making hand over fist on the humble PC, making friends and not enemies. The biggest upcoming games are MMORPG's and they just don't seem to be able to exist on the consoles for some reason... The PC is dead, long live the PC.

Oh and Mac is now in the race as well with more then a few good games on OSX and of course all those iOS games.

Meanwhile the 3DS bombed like only a Nintendo 3D product can bomb and the next PSP is... well we talk about that when it actually launches shall we?

Basically, if you are not a fanboy this console war has no winners. A lot of times a single article will claim one by using a single metric while ignoring all other evidence or even use that single metric world wide.

Be interesting to see what the next generation will bring. The WiiU or whatever it is name is seems to ditch the two handed motion devices. Or do they want you to wave that huge screen around because people so love looking at a screen that they got to wave about at the same time? Might motion actually be dead for the next generation? First is the pure money grab, same as with .mobi and .travel and several others. Ever use them for legit sites? No? But lots of companies paid for their domain name nonetheless. Domain names are cheap? Not the .xxx ones. This ain't a service it is a commercial business and they want some real cash. Oh not enough to be a major worry to most companies but enough to add up.

Then there is the provision that the registar has that they reserve the right to scan your site. That doesn't happen with any other domain but it does for the .xxx domain. Harmless you say? Most porn sites are members only. Is the registar going to need a full access account for every site to scan it? They refuse to answer. Who is going to responsible for leaked access? They don't even acknowledge that question. How is an American company going to deal with laws in different countries, as in why would a Japanese site have to follow US rules or vice versa?

But the final evil is why lots of politicians are in favor of it.

What is Playboy magazine? A porn mag OR a magazine with some pictures of nudity? The difference is important. The US has no clear anti-porn laws, instead it has laws that prohibit obscene material. What is obscene? That is a very good question and so far the courts have been unable to answer it.

Porn is legal in the US as long as no court can define it as being obscene. In olden days this explains nudist magazines and movies. By shooting it as a documentary on nudist live a movie could be sold that was just a skin flick. It is educational!

This has never gone totally away in the US although a lot of porn IS produced as purely porn the laws are still there and plenty of politicians would be willing to enforce them.

But how can you proof something is porn? How do you proof playboy.com is just obscenity? Well, a bloody big clue would be playboy.xxx Godwin be damned but it is a yellow star. Why do you think the yellow star was used on jews but not say a black star on blacks in America? Because there was no need to, you can tell a black person just by looking a them and therefor there was no risk of a black person going into a whites only store. The only way to enfore "gein juden" was to force them to wear an identifier.

If you force all porn on the .xxx domain you have also forced to label themselves as porn. To those who wish to purge porn from the web, step 1.

Will this happen? Some believe so, the same kind of people that defended Larry Flint. Not because they liked Hustler so much but because of this "joke".

An Arminain grandfather lies on his deathbed and calls his sons to him to depart some final wisdom, "Remember my sons, always defend the jews."

Why the jews the oldest son asks.

"Because once they are gone, we will be next".

The web as it exist now is a mess, porn, business, copyright infringement, press all mixed up with no easy way to tell which is which. But it makes it very hard for a group to silence a part of it. See the US problems with trying to filter porn in public libraries. Oops, it may contain sex but it is also free speech. .xxx would have no such protection since by its label it is only obscenity and that doesn't fall under free speech.

.XXX is a multi-layered beast. At first glance it seems just like a money grab until you realize that there is political support for it for over a decade from a certain quarter and they are NOT in it for they money. They got other motives and once they become evident it will be too late.

Remember this, when it was asked during a conference that IF as the registar said market forces would decide if it was a success or not that ANOTHER option for the registar who invested a LOT of money in this MIGHT use their political mussle to buy ADDITIONAL laws to FORCE purchase of .xxx domains to save their business, the representative plain refused to answer.

If people were known by their real identity then suddenly one part of the greater internet fuckwad theory falls away. Suddenly everyone can see just what a pimple on the ass of humanity you really are when you troll a forum.

And it is nothing new. The best game servers are closed, only allowing access to people you really know. There are countless of closed websites where you have to have some kind of proof you really belong to that group before you can start taking part. The reason is simple, they want to know who you are so that you will behave.

That is all google wants I think. To create a social network that is not rampant with spam and scams. Where people can open a mail without having to a forensic analysis to determine if it isn't some nigerian in financial trouble.

Note that when email spam is being discussed plenty of people here suggest schemes to identify people who post in one way or another more accurately.

LinkedIn offers a social network where by its nature most people will use their real identity and gosh it is easy to spot spammers because they don't have an idenity. Guess Google wants more of that then Facebook and its deluge of crap.

And if you don't like it? Don't use it. So far I only seen people against it who want a company to produce a service they want custom made for them and damn the need for a business case. Go run your own social network without any need to identify at all. Happy spam cleaning.

I am interested to see where this goes. No, I don't use Google+ but then I don't use Facebook. Slashdot is good enough for me for all the in depth human interaction I need... it hasn't got any you say? Exactly how I like it. If you want google+ to be facebook, stay on facebook.

Wireless to replace the networking guy? Because wireless is just plug and play right? You just setup one of those magic boxes and voila, the entire office building has zero-config access. That is the level this guy is thinking at, it shows he just hasn't got a clue. Just because you used wireless on your home router doesn't mean you are a networking expert, wireless or otherwise. Setting up wireless access is in fact harder for a big building then wired. Wired is simple, you got a cable, you draw it, you test it, it works. Cable doesn't get interference from a microwave or a factory nearby that runs something every monday. It has no dark spots, no interference. And you know what cable you plugged into which PC. I worked in offices where the visitors wifi was only working in the offices, not in the reception or meeting areas. That is helpful.

He also proposes to move your email into the cloud. Clearly he never worked with regulators who would throw such a fit at handing all your confidential data over to a third party.

This is just another post by some kiddy who heard some buzzwords and thinks his massive experience setting up his mom's computer gives him an insight into what IT support for even a medium sized company is all about.

The future is always just the same. Why? Because things don't change all that much. Take flying cars, do you think they are going to solve grid-lock magically? Right, because the entire skies will be open to them right? Do you want flying cars buzzing over YOUR house? No? Then they will be confined to corridors, highways in the sky, just as congested as roads. Proof? Airliners are already having trouble fitting enough planes into busy areas. Now imagine every jumbojet replaced by 300 individuals in the skies.

IT hasn't changed all that much. Even if you go wireless and into the cloud it will STILL require an admin on the ground to deal with it all. Just look at how often Amazon's cloud has been down. If you been in IT a little bit longer then this baby anon, you will know that IT is always changing and changing back again. From mainframe to PC's to the network to the cloud... it is just the latest craze. So the cable puller now pulls a cable to the wireless box and spends his time not checking cable but reception. Big whoop.
