This is a verry cool idea, But I can't help but think about how enviroment specific this would need. The signal seems like it would be way too fragile, a little movement could screw it up.
Two recent political leaders allegedly had
this nefarious habit:
-: Both came to power after dubious elections,
by non-electorial and irregular methods.
-: Both nations immediately experienced attacks
on famous public buildings.
-: Both blamed an ethnic minority before
forensics had any evidence.
-: Both led "witch-hunts" against the accused
minority.
-: Both suspended civil liberties "temporarily."
-: Both put the citizenry under surveillance.
-: Both maintained secret and clandestine
governments.
-: Both launched wars against most of the world.
If he encourages this, he essentially gives up any ability to defend his copyright. At best he can just look the other way, but that would hurt their ability to defend also.
Since most people that want their linux box to look like xp are dual booting anyway, couldnt you just point this to an XP install and let it steal all the icons/graphics from this so you can get a truely authentic xp look without all the cease and desist letters?
its TF2, not TFC2. F2 is the sequel to Team Fortress, the original game that was a quake1 mod. The release date for it was 2nd quarter 1998 (one of the messages inn birthday mode) TFC was just a kludgy halflife mod that totaly ruined the game for many people. the physics were all wrong, and levels were way too brigh (compare 2fort to 2fort5... 2fort haa hT dark sniper spot, 2fort5 is covered in dark corners like a real fort would be, plenty of paces to hide.
" How did the cellphone revoluntionize the world? Did it double crop outputs or cure a disease or what?" It allowed much more instant and available connectivity. It allows us to report crimes as we see them from inside our car. It allows us to call for help when deserted out in the middle of HickVille, USA. And the real reason it made it on the forbes list: Now all of the suits have access to that cool snake game while in boring meetings.
" and as for opera not being the best... it's got quite a few people who've *actually* used it for awhile who believe it's far superior to anything else out there right now. "
They obviously arnt web developers. Maybe to a normal (non-advanced) user Opera might be acceptable, But to anyone thats ever touched css Opera is unusable. Its one of the worst to render css in my experience (excluding ns3/ie3). It has huge problems with spacing and linebreaks, and generaly makes it hard to work with. If they can blatently break css and still be called a browser? 'cat' makes a pretty fast rendering engine to, though it has "a few rendering problems".
I think this will help them a lot. Linux runs quake much better, so if they officially support it they can start advertising the FPS of quake in linux. Users will compare it to quake in windows and think the card is even better. This will also help get developers(other than the gods at idsoft) to take linux a little more seriously.
" the International Air Transport Association (IATA) stated its case for ".travel," the World Health Organization (WHO) lobbied for ".health," Nokia Corp. for ".mobile" and a group of Internet companies said it wants ".III" for individuals"
IMO most of those are pretty useless. ICANN should be working on revoking the country TLDS's that are being abused (.tk,.tv). Why add more unneeded TLDs that will just confuse things?.III: Of all these proposals, this makes the most sense reasoning wise, but why three I's?.mobile: I'd love to type 'mobile' out with those annoying keypad typing things..travel: Well look who's too good for.com's.health: Same, might be useful for only 'correct' health sites to prevent users from being misinformed, but who decieds that?
Also, Has anyone here actually been glad that.info and.biz are in use?So far I've only seen one.info, and it was misused (No info on the site, it was a network). Still no.biz's yet
Actually, depending how they do it you could get some good in-flight lan games going. I guess you could do that now with 802.11b, But it might interfere with the flight control systems. Or atleast thats what they'll say now that they can charge you for the inflight lan..
Just think of playing de_747[*] on a real 747.
[*] Counterstrike map, CS comes with cs_747 but it sucks, IMO de_747 is much funner. think big plain flying in the air, T's have to bomb it.
Don't stop at Poindexter, We should setup a TIA-like program for all 'bad' politicians. I think we should do Ashcroft next, maybe a few of his sheeplings. I want every little peice of information, right down to what toppings he orders on his pizza. Dont stop until they realise how wrong what theyre doing is. I'd even be willing to offer some server space for a more elaborate project like this.
"How long ago did that revolution end? You afraid Britain might invade again? So why do you need your guns now? You've got your freedom... disarm."
We have our guns and our freedom. They kinda go together. Thomas Jefferson wanted the 2nd ammendment so our govt couldnt take our freedom.
"The guns-as-historical-right is a crock. Why aren't you arguing for the right of everyone to keep a catapault, or longbow or sharp pointy stick?" Because AFAIK we are allowed to have catapaults, longbows, and sharp pointy sticks. Try and take them away and see what happens.

NO NO NO You cant ban cars, airplanes, and the weather. People will just find other ways to kill people, instead we must ban all people as a whole. Please fill out this govt funded survey to help rid the world of these evils:
But there are no legitimate uses for the unlocked car. What if I want to run an open WiFi network for legit uses only? I think it would be more akin to someone taking one of those pen-on-a-ballchain's from a bank, unhooking it, and using it to jab someones eye out. Bank didnt intend for it to be used like that, they just wanted it public. And even if such an event occured, they'd continue to have a public pen policy.
Far offtopic, but are you even paying attention? I'll get modded down -1, Not-Being-A-Linux-Zealot for this, but did you not notice sony packaging Star Office instead of MS office?

Which is good for us. At some point the sheep^H^H^H^H^Hcustomers will realise its not worth the price when they could just go for a better solution.

Its not lately, but I'd say a good 99.999999999999% of the curren projects would be screwed without GCC, glib, gmake, emacs, gnome, gtk, binutils...
Above that, Most of those are things I actually use, as opposed to paying for a corperation's product that I dislike (It's just not my tastes).

If CmdrTaco really wanted to cram all of these into one, He'd include the dupes planned for tonight and just link everything twice.

No, If she was smart she'd know better than to assume anonymous content is posted by you. Nice try, But no +1, Funny for you.
Yet. Give it a day, Have some faith in the editors. They'll repost it atleast twice.
Incase anyone forgot, This is the guy that wrote DeCSS (The program that lets people decode dvds so they can be played in free operating systems).
More info on the trial at Google News (Wouldnt it be cool if slashdot automagicly added a google news link to stories to show all relevant links?)
