Yeah, 'cause Norway is famous for having low taxes... (Sarcasm has been used somewhere in this post)

  4. Re:Ahhh, episodic games on Half-Life 2 Episode One Delayed · · Score: 1

I think Valve figures that if World of Warcraft can get people to pay fifteen dollars each month, they can get ten to fifteen for an episode of HL2. Some people are much more willing to shell out some, small amount of cash every now and then, rather than 50-60 dollars relatively seldom.

This way, people are also getting their fix more often.

This has been possible with VLC for a while. You just have to enable the option called "Context Menus" when you install. You will be given an option saying Add to VLC media player's Playlist when you right click the folder.

The UN is not a higher moral standard. It's not like som god-like creature is running it. It's run by people, and people with power tend to get corrupted.

And, even though I'm not a EU citizen, I am from Europe, so I know how the social democratic welfare state imposes restrictions on its citizens. The UN is the largest social democratic institution in the world and would certainly impose restrictions given control of the internet. One must not let people decide for themselves, god forbid.

The difference here being that the other countries most likely would introduce restrictions on the internet, versus the free nature of it nowadays. Do you want more restrictions?
Me, I'd rather have the internet just how it is now, thank you very much.

Yngwie Malmsteen is not from Norway. He is from Sweden (Same peninsula, different country). And besides, he made great music!

    Oh, Jesus Christ!!

When are everyone going to learn that Europe is NOT ONE COUNTRY. Europe consists of about 50 sovereign countries, depending on how you count them. See Wikipedias article on Europe for more.

I live in Norway, which isn't the capital in Sweden, and I've never encountered the AZERTY keyboard here, ever.

Everyone here uses QWERTY. I don't even want to think about what those crazy continental europeans use.

And Intel doesn't really have to advertise the fact that it's AMD-compatible, it's not like AMD owns more than 80% of the market, and Intel is below 20%. To hyperbolize, you don't expect Microsoft to announce the next version of Office to be compatible with Joe's Software Shop's software.

Well, at the moment AMD has 100% of the 64-bit x86 processor market.

It's the same here (Norway). The Gathering, Norway's biggest LAN party, is going to have 5100 attendants this year. Last year, about 1/5 of the 4500 attendants were female. Norway is a very small country, with only 4.5 million inhabitants.

  13. Unpopular Nerds?? Not in Scandinavia on Why Nerds Are Unpopular · · Score: 2, Interesting

Where I live (Elverum, Norway), being a nerd AND being popular is not a problem. I am quite a big nerd (at least all the people I know consider me so), and I have always considered myself everything but unpopular.

After years of watching american television series, I've always wondered why nerds are so unpopular, because if there's anyone I relate to in those TV-series, it's the nerds/geeks.

It's probably because "the nerd stamp" doesn't mean that much in Norway...
