  1. Faster+Cheapest Mac ever unveiled at WWDC ! on Apple Switching to Intel · · Score: 1

At 999$, this 3.6 Ghz Pentium 4 developper kit sounds like the fastest machine Apple is selling for a much lower price than PowerMac G5 !

That dev kit looks like a good deal to me ! :)

  2. Header size on Presenting APNG: Like MNG, Only Better · · Score: 4, Informative
the one advantage GIFs have over PNGs is that they can be animated

Another advantage GIF has over PNG is its smaller header size which makes small images lighter. A typical 16x16 GIF icon weighing about 100 bytes will translate into a PNG of 200 bytes or more.

That may sound like nitpicking but it can still matter, for example when transferring images to mobile phones.

I got one of these and I think it is a great device if you consider it as an email pager. The messaging capabilities are great but the web browser is barely usable because it is too slow and often locks. I think they did a great job at the user interface which allows you to navigate with just one hand (so you can read your emails and drive at the same time!:) thanks to the nifty thumbwheel. Also the keyboard is really pleasant to use and I find it much faster to type than graffiti or any other forms of handwriting. The 'palm like' capabilities such as Memopad and Todos are very limited, I'd stick to the palm for that.

Now that Microsoft has decided to stop NT development on the Alpha platform (or at least they stopped trying to), Compaq seems to be much more interested in Linux for Alpha...

I wish the same thing could happen to the Intel platform :)
