The Senate and Congress are two seperate groups. and if the Senate disbanded congress (is this even possible?) then it wouldn't be the same as XF86 team disbanding themselves.
At the end of the article it says that MS wants to do monthly patches to make it less of a surprise to sysadmins...
Anyone else see a problem with waiting a month for your windows machine to get updated?
By firing this guy, they brought more attention to his blog and therefore the pictures and comments that are still there either way. Seems kind of dumb of them to fire him.
How is an ibook the best deal in laptops anywhere when I can go to dell or compaq or whatever and get a faster notebook for $800. I have an iBook and I like it and all. But sometimes I wish I had a dell laptop that was cheaper, faster, and had more features.
Apple is dumb.
If you look at the screen on the 14" and the 12" ibooks side by side, you will wonder why anyone would ever buy the 14. It's larger, heavier and the screen is almost to the point of being blurry. if the 14 had a 1280x1024 or even slightly lower res, then it would be worth it.
He cant figure out how to bring up the calendar by clicking on the time in windows? Ever hear of "Double click"? Also, he can't figure out how to add quicklaunch buttons to the taskbar? Right click > unlock taskbar. Then drag icons. Then right click and lock it again.
Man, This guy isn't even trying.
Ok, the at least seperate it into Software updates and System updates. This way when this happens and there is another bug discovered the same day the point release is done, they can just update the software portion and they dont need to make 10.2.9 or whatever. I suppose they have in the past, can and will for this though, so good. But all the updates should be seperate if any of them are.
Why does everything have to be installed as a system upgrade? There should be seperate updates for SSH, Sendmail, System,... and then you can choose what to install. This makes it easier for people with 10.1 also. As they can just install the SSH and/or Sendmail without needing 10.2 for the System update. Seems pretty basic to me.
Once people see that they can hack the xbox and install other software/play games from the HD/play divx movies.. etc... they are going to want these things more for thier wide range of abilities.
While I agree with the idea that click through licenses are dumb, using the analogy of "you don't have to click through to use your toaster" is irrelevant. You can't copy a toaster in the same way you can copy software. That's why these licenses were invented in the first place. Granted the GPL and BSD licenses allow for duplication, but there are still rights and effort involved in making software.

How about "starting up" as a synonym for "bootstrap". Makes more sense that way
How soon before:
You passed between milepost 1 and 15 in under 6 minutes, here's your speeding ticket.
wow, that's better than 120 mph

... did whoever did this steal any of our source code?
I for one welcome our new solar overlords.

Where I come from NASA spends dollars, not pounds.
compare it to a 12" ibook and you will see what I mean.
granted the 14" is better than most PC laptop screens, but it's still not as sharp as the 12"
You dont get any more desktop space from using a 14" ibook than a 12". That was the original point, they have the same resolution.
screen size and desktop space are seperate variables.

Isn't the iPod the same size (or smaller) and has 30 GB capacity?
They have a lot of money to gain.
