Ive found that RealVNC is the single greatest tool for fixing any software related problems with my family. I live a long ways away, so with this I tell them over the phone to fire vnc up, and Ill connect to their computer. Once thats done, I have full control of the computer. I can now do it myself, rather than explain instruction after instruction.
Here in the Minneapolis/St Paul area, there are a few cool surplus places around. My favorite happens to be Ax-Man. They have a lot of total crap, but they also manage to have a lot of neat electrical stuff too. A lot of that is also crap, but there is enough cool stuff floating around to make an EE major like me think up some cool ideas:)
Yeah, this might seem cool and all, but how many servers are going to immmediately adopt the 64 bit platform? A lot of servers I have played on in my day were just old boxes that no one wanted to use as a gaming machine anymore. While some might have the cash to spring for this, I doubt the 64 bit presence will be noticed anytime in the near future for cs.
However, with a good server and a fast pipe, fun could be had seeing how many people could be crammed onto the AWP map or something.
Those were some pretty lame pics of Los Alamos. I mean come on, I could take a piece of string and a no trespassing sign and head to the desert and then tell the world that I infiltrated the base. A picture of a shed with a fence around it? Come on, I could find one of this with 5 blocks of my apartment. All I would have to do is put the number 33 on it and the rest of the world would probably never know. I didnt see anything credible that said "los alamos" on it that couldnt easily have been forged. For all we may know, this guy is faking it.
Heh, this has to be one of the worst slashdot discussions EVER. Last I looked, there were about 500 posts (mostly one liners) and half of which were modded to 0 or below. Of the remaining posts I skimmed over, a few were modded funny, and I saw not one insightful post. Someone must have something interesting to say about this article...
I highly doubt this would become mainstream in any smaller craft. The design would require revamping most current hull designs to accomodate an intake for better waterflow to the motor. This would take up valuable space. I dont know how many/.ers are serious about fishing, but I like having as much space in my boat as possible. Also, how big is the motor? It might be far too cumbersome to fit in anything less than a 20 foot boat. How much does it weigh? For all I know it could sink a jetski, an area where this could apply.
I see there must be a hundred comments with regard to the cost of production of any given music. Unfortuneately, this is only a small portion of the music industry. Yes, it is a very imortant aspect, but its not the sole factor in price. Artists need to cover their costs and make a profit, record companies, distributors and finally retailers all need to do the same as well. Its a big chain, with lots of costs accumulating on the way. Its how business works, deal with it.
Talk about a bad case of trying to keep up with the Jones family. It must feel like a kick in the face to the neighbors who have the typical string around the roof display. If nothing else, it might get sickening after a while.
Is this really anything all that new? I mean, havent fires been occuring since the dawn of time? Im not denying the fact that a climate change occured, but Im thinking that it isnt anything that we should worry about. Do climate records exist that date back far enough so that an accurate comparison of carbon levels and the resulting effects may be made? Whos to say that the earth is or is not experiencing normal or even below normal levels of carbon in the atmosphere? Without a larger collection of information, can we really make an accurate judgement?
In the article it was said that 10,000 hops were executed, and in that time, no noticeable errors were seen. Call me crazy, but thats a lot of hops and no error to speak of.
I thought it was also interesting how IBM said that the tests were performed at 4k. I dont know about you, but molecules move pretty freakin slow at that temperature. Like the article said, boost the temp, and the speed of the circuit should increase as well. This may not be as slow is the EE times article made it out to be.
It seems that we have failed to overlook the popup factor. Since I have gone to Mozilla, I have seen only ONE popup that I didnt want. That in itself is the primary reason that I will not go back to IE. Gone are the days where I felt afraid to click on a *cough*porn*cough* link.
crazy brits..... hes taking shots of beer, NOT whiskey, which would indeed kill a man. If one were still alive after 60 shots of whiskey, I would like to shake their hand.
Microsoft! Highly recommended.
What the hell kind of organization is the poster in? The American I-Hate-Civil-Liberties Union?
Its quite apparent that Slashdot hasnt forgotten to cover each individual and meaningless tidbit when it comes to the SCO soap opera.
Apparently Jewish dating services are a major source of terrorism funding in the region.
"International Association of Master Penmen, Engrossers and Teachers of Handwriting"
Wow... there is such an organization? Oh man, I thought that I was a dork...

I dont care what you may say. Its the oversized spoiler and the stickers with unreadable fonts that make your typical street car go fast. Duh...

Hell, I would pay someone to MAKE the service terrible in my libraries and classrooms on campus.... its freakin ridiculous.

*Note to self* No nekkid monkey-business on the beach when helicopters are nearby...
