The Windows way is great when you have a few nearly identical long names with scattered differences. The bash way is great pretty much all other times. Except for the fucking bell when there are multiple completions - not a problem on my own machines, but every time I use someone else's machine it wears my teeth down another millimeter.
Things to hate about Windows tab completion include but are not limited to: 1) It erases everything after the cursor, so you can't go back in a long command line and insert a tab-completed filename. 2) It completes by ignoring punctuation characters at the start of the name (so 's' will complete as ".svn" before "source" - imagine how much this pissed me off when we switched version control systems)
That was totally cruel and uncalled for. Not only do you insult the other editors by including it, but you bring back unwanted memories for the older folks. For shame, sir!

The on-screen character has to animate itself through a "punishment" animation (reeling from the unexpected impact), and brings the saber to match your current position as quickly as possible. The game can't animate at precisely the same speed you do, or the game would quickly devolve into "fastest-physically-moving-player wins". You can see a similar sort of idea in any Soul Calibur game.
I don't really understand this preference. If casting a "no vote" ballot is the same as not voting at all, why would you prefer people waste both their time and taxpayer's money in dealing with the pointless vote?
Now if a majority of "no vote" votes led to no US goverment for a term, I would be all for it...
Err, they both use the power logo... for some reason, I just don't notice it as much on the original-style start menu. I think my brain has been trained to ignore the first few pixels of the columns...
It depends on whether you're using the Windows 2000 or Fisher Price interface. The old theme uses "Shut Down", and the FP theme uses "Turn off computer" with the little red "power" logo.
But please, by all means, tell us what sucks about a control activating when the user clicks on it.
When a user clicks, they have an expectation in their head: "I gave an order to iTunes, iTunes should carry that order out". Instead, the user is subjected to a somewhat obtuse and irrelevant model of "focussed" and "unfocussed".
I know you try hard to be Apple's poster boy, but the simple fact is that Apple is wrong in this case. Don't be sad, it happens. Just don't try to slip your way out with "do everything the Right(tm) way" handwaving.
Dear 'Flamebait' Moderator,
I am sorry I missed the smiley face you apparently need to recognise a joke. It will happen again.
What's wrong with being elitist?
If I have to tell you, you're too stupid to EVER understand.
Only until you get a wife... then the grinding pretty much stops (or becomes prohibitively expensive).
And I say this after my last post was called an anti-apple troll because...
To be fair, you do write a lot of crazy shit. I mean, what is up with all the gay/excrement stories?

Looks like someone out there hit the pipe pretty hard before moderating.
Given that / support has only been present in recent Windows versions, I have to say
[citation sorely needed]
Why, they could copy the fresh and innovative features found in Microsoft's excellent browser.
Have you seen IE7 yet? They let you view multiple pages inside one window, via "tabs". Genius!
f _|_ = _|_
Where the funny "_|_" symbol means "bottom,"
Oh, so you meant:
f (_|_) = (_|_)

So who hit "Preview" and "Submit"?
You might want to double-check your address bar.

No, this other dude has a few more commandments than "You shall not pass".
Funny thing is that I traced this back to Sixth Edition UNIX, released in 1975
My sides are completely split! Invite this guy to more parties.

Yes. I don't mean to scare you, but I have already reached the big 30, and mine is miniscule. I'm lucky I'm married!
Might as well beat them with sticks and call that "mathematics"
Ahh, good old Twigonometry.
Your groans are music to my ears.
I personally require none of that dada.
Slow down on the keyboard there, Oedipus.
Except that most of the suffering is on the wrong end.
Judging by most of the websites I visit(/endure), Ass-first Javascript is the freakin' industry standard.

If my wife was into bare naked ladies, I wouldn't be looking THAT gift horse in the mouth.
AC is exactly right:
Sure, when the standard sucks, break it.

I thought Anakin was going to bring Amidala before the council and re-enact the love dialogue from episode 2.
I'm quite glad they decided to take the "slaying" route.
