  1. Re:Automakers on US To Require That New Cars Get 42 MPG By 2016 · · Score: 1

Well, firstly this only applies to cars. Secondly, There probably already is a 12:1 ratio of cars to delivery trucks. Third. If you sell just 2, 60 mpg cars, for every 12 mpg large truck, then your average is still beyond 42 mpg.

However, the big question to me is, how do the automakers control which vehicles are sold? They can offer 18 different models that run at 50 mpg, and 1 model that runs at 30, and there's nothing saying that everybody won't run out and buy the 30 mpg car.

W3 schools tends to be highly slanted away from IE, and already says FireFox is at 47%. This probably has to do with the fact that most of their visitors are web developers, and therefore a little more tech savvy than the average person. I would say that w3schools is actually a really bad place to look. If you could somehow get the stats from Yahoo, Microsoft Live Search, and Google, you might be able to get the numbers to within 5% error.

The constitution was ratified in 1788, while photography didn't even get invented until 1820. How can the constitution really say anything about a technology that didn't exist at the time. Just as the right to bear arms doesn't mean you can carry around rocket launchers and nuclear weapons, there are things in the constitution that no longer can be taken to mean exactly what they say.

Last time I checked, Final Fantasy was turn based. Although I haven't played anything since FF VII. Although I've seen VIII. What stopped me from playing was the 2 minute cut scenes for every single attack. But that's another conversation. Also Chrono Trigger, at least as I played it, wasn't strictly turned based. There was actually 2 modes. One which was turn based, and one that was more interactive, in that you couldn't just sit there for 2 minutes thinking of your next move, or the bad guys would attack you a bunch of times.

A very good point. My brother wanted to become a teacher when he was in highschool. Our highschool had an option where you could be a teacher's helper in a class for a class credit. After one semester of being in the teacher's position, he knew that he didn't want to be a teacher. The students didn't want to learn, didn't want to listen, and didn't even want to be there. Only taking advanced highschool courses, he had no idea the general level courses would be so full of disruption and so hard to teach. I have to say that a lot of teachers really have given up. I had a lot of good teachers, but even the good ones let the kids fall behind if the student didn't put any effort into the course. You can't teach someone who doesn't want to be taught.

I never even saw a textbook until I was in high school, and even then we only had them for a few classes. You don't need textbooks to teach. For math, you can do all you need with a blackboard, some blank paper, and maybe a few photo copied (or ditto machine) homework assignments. For English, you can teach most of it without "textbooks". Sure you need novels, but out of copyright works can be extremely cheap. If you think about it, and look for alternatives, there are ways to teach just about every subject without requiring expensive books. I even did many university courses without text books.

The plus of biking is that I don't have to make time for the gym as I get all the exercise I need just by going to and from work.
