    I'm a very long time Linux(19 years) BSD (17) and Unix (37 years) user, I know what exists for each platform. There are plenty of things that only exist on Windows and MacOS for business and for home finances/taxes for which there is NOT a suitable substitute available on Linux.

    So I run both Windows and Linux on my home PC and laptop.

    At work it's a Mac.

    I don't foresee a free version of Linux ever having those apps in the next 10+ years. A locked down proprietary system by google or similar, maybe, but then what's the point?

    I run Linux too. but I also have to run windows for certain necessary software for employment and for home taxes.

    no, wrong.

    elephants(common ancestor with manatees), rhinos(common ancestor with horses and tapirs) and hippo(common ancestor with whales) are all completely unrelated species with different bone and muscle structures. none of them would be relevant to modeling something that is in the common ancestry with birds.

    you don't have to put all one square mile of storage in one place, for example have 9 places a third of a mile on each side.....there is no problem

    if you lived in Arizona, that would be great. Where I am, you'd get maybe a quarter to third of the power you'd normally want to use, and that might not be a bad thing at the lower prices that are coming. But what you're proposing is a more a backup or emergency strategy for over half the county.

    What nonsense, a sustainable human colony elsewhere is more than a century or more away if it is even possible. "getting off this rock" is not relevant to space exploration today, the tech dosen't exist and is not used for what we do today

    the impulse engines were fusion, NASA won't develop fusion reactors. That's tech that might even be impossible to develop
