    For the average citizen it's much harder to get my personal info from my license plate number than from my IP address.

    You can not continue to probing my house from knowing my plate number, but you can probe my home network with my IP.

    Define cutting off internet.

    With multiple devices in ones home connected to the net, be it several home computers, ipods/pads, dvd or blue ray players, game consoles. I think you should define cutting off internet. Are we talking your ISP blocking your connection, or are you talking about the one device infected being killed remotely by some entity other than the owner of the machine.

    I'd much rather not see a kill flip for some poor schlup that has botnetware running on their system, I think a better approach would be mandatory computer security classes. This would go much further to actually stopping the problem by educating the end user instead of punishing them.

    Yes, I'm sure the US wants world domination. This is why every country in the world salutes an American flag and celebrates the 4th of Ju... oh wait. The US is the only country that does that. It must mean the US isn't bent on world domination. If so, I'm sure it would have happened by now.

    but since when did California law apply to foreign countries? If this works, I'm going to say "damn my state law" and enforce prop 19 here on my own. My rationale is, if CA law applies to China, then it damn well applies to the east coast of the US.

    You've a valid point, but consider those Germans during the Nazi regime that didn't want that group in power yet still had to live with the stigmata. I do realize it's stretching more than a bit to draw a parallel between the two examples, it's not the general populace that I would fear, it's those ignorant people you mentioned. Otherwise there's more than a few countries I'd absolutely love to visit.

    This is the reason I can't go to a foreign country to visit. I'm American and evil even though I have no control over my government. It's those assholes that are so disconnected with the population that make us all look like tools.

    Your "in about 20 years" is more like now. I live in the US am a US citizen and I'm fed up with the way my government governs. What's worse is about all I can do to stop it is storm the capital.

    First I'm an American, I live in the US always have. I'm am just fed up with my government. How in the hell can they be so disconnected, and how in the hell do they expect to impose their will on other nations. Fucking hell isn't that what the initial settlers came over here to get away from?
