On my mac (this worked in 10.1, i'm sure it'll work in 10.2 also, i just haven't done it yet), if you take a screen capture of a DVD playing, the region it was playing in shows up orange. you can then set this orange image as your desktop wallpaper. when you then play a dvd and minimize the dvd player app to the dock, the dvd will still play on your wallpaper. dvd with no app! not that you couldn't 'break' this, but it is signifigantly harder.

Is it just me, or have others cut way down on reading since they got on the internet? Grandted, I'm sure I read more sitting at the computer, but it's all crap. (X10 Ads shouldn't count as 'reading'); In relation to the Normalization of Sexual Deviancy, I would be willing to bet that the vast majority of sex offenders don't visit 'deviant' pornographic websites on a daily basis. I think that the bulk of it is probably 31337 kids, spamming goatse links in their counterstrike matches. The real perverts masturbate in their own feces, they don't have time for computers.

With AMD supposedly supporting paradigm, how does "free software" fit into the equation? Will MS try to make AMD cut it's ties with Mandrake? Will they try to get some sort of DRM put into Mandrake? Any ideas?

my old manager worked for one of these. she would spend all day stocking the thing. it sold t-shirts, mugs, crap like that. each was in a plastic bag and had it's own little cubby. the inside of thte 'store' was just hundreds of these cubbies, with some walking room to stock in the middle. when the customer pushed the button for the item they wanted, a huge vaccuum arm would suck the item up and drop it in a chute. according to her, it apparently worked out great, with the exception of frequent jamming.

i wonder what apple is going to do. would it be a wise business move to pay the license until the next version of itunes, and release a patch that plays some other format, .ogg? then when itunes 4 comes out, end mp3 support? from a license standpoint, it would make sense to switch over to .ogg, but i wonder if they would just be shooting themselves in the foot, after all, the vast majority of digital music out there is in .mp3.
