  4. Games bridge the generation gap on The Social Impact of Gaming · · Score: 1

While people who were never really exposed to video games do tend to reject or fail to understand them, video games have now infiltrated our culture to the point where it spreads (in some form, anyway. Progress WILL change the face of video gaming as time passes) across the following generations. I doubt we will see the death of video games within even the next 200 years. ...assuming we don't let ourselves be pushed around by old and scared individuals like Jack Thompson.

If they are made easier to digest (essentially, dumbed down) wouldn't that offset the bonuses gained by such wide exposure? People would feel "cheated" whe nthey try to take on the real thing....

I'm quite certain he knows better but simply worded it wrong. Looking for ways to make any evidence suit your hypothesis (like Bush did) is wrong ; looking for evidence to support it is standard practice and quite logical.

  7. Re:Oh please. on Pentagon Wants Screenplays From Scientists · · Score: 1

This is not how to run science or a country. What should have been done as with any hypothesis is to form that hypothesis (Iraq had WMD) and then attempt to disprove that theory rather than find evidence to support it. When you failed to disprove that theory, then you act and possibly take a country to war.

I don't think YOU understand how science works. Ever hear of Burden of proof? Unfalsifiable positions? How do you propose Iraq prove it did NOT have WMDs, anyway? Searching for evidence supporting a hypothesis is perfectly acceptable. It's the only way to achieve a logical conclusion.

You might as well ask "why" we chose the word "law" to represent the concept we know as "law". Some things just are, without a reason. A reason`implies an intelligent designer, it would be pointless to ask ourselves that before seeing a shred of evidence to His existence and circular logic to use this question as proof of a creator.

In fact, ID FAILS to answer this very simple question as well. "Because it is God's will" is a meaningless answer founded on nothing at all.
