I totally agree that sticking the Windows branding on mobile devices was a bad call, but to play devil's advocate, a window can also be a portal to another setting/location. They could have played the marketing message they did use in a "see what's going on by looking through the window" sense.
Exactly. At the last shop I worked at I keep an open hard drive next me at all times and multiple times a day I was explaining broken record players. For that mater, bad sectors can always be scratches on the record.
notice the recent deafening silence over the Xserve RAID EOL and iPhone SDK delay
hmm, i guess all those sarcastic stories about "Apple finally sets iPhone SDK release date" (salon.com) or "Ah, there's the iPhone SDK, coming along the road(map)" were just whispers...i guess if slashdot had covered it that would have been audible. but all these damn sheep just refuse to criticize apple
What does the lack of anti-phishing features on Camino have to do with Apple or safari?
Either that's a typo or someone needs to pay a little more attention to who makes what browser
Microsoft plans to have SP1 integrated into Windows Vista at retail as well, but could not give a timeline on how quickly the update will be included in the retail version of Vista.
I've wondered for a while how many of the Vista sales were similar to the Xbox 360 method of pushing product out the doors at MS to retails/3rd parties and counting that as units installed. I think this could be a good chance to see if that's the case, if we still see pre SP1 Vista boxes this summer I guess I'll have my answer.
Apple is still a hardware company, they're just not a COMPUTER hardware company.
I see it as if the product doesn't start with "i" it's a legacy product, and that includes Mac...tho it does make for one hell of a development platform for all those crazy new apple products.
> I literally can't remember an application making any of my Windows systems come down.
Are you serious? Or do you not use windows much. I've had many apps bring down Windows.
Off the top of my head I know that Media Player has done so, and i'm pretty sure an early release of Gran Paradiso did.
Yeah apple realy souldn't be hogging that (check task manager) 1MB of ram and less than 1 percent of my cpu
A this rate svchost.exe will not be able to run 22 time...before a blaster infiction.
Since you're so concerned about providing data to backup claims...how about pointing me to these "anti-religion atheists" that are saying science has disproved God.
The only significant cases of atheists fighting against God is over the Pledge of Allegiance, and that has nothing to do with evolution.
This should not even be an issue. How hard is it for MS to create a multithreaded api/sdk.
Microsoft could and should have designed the system around the technology.
Granted I'm not a gamer and don't follow the industry as such, it seems to be that MS may have made a huge mistake trying to get this system out the door.
Let's see..... Games approved for release by MS -> 0 Games using systems biggest selling point (as in ultracool new multicore cpu) -> 0 Then the WalMart interference problems ( yes I know they're fixed) and all yeah....And then there's still the complains from the industry of still using dvd instead of a bigger media.
As far as soft real time? Back in the day I ran Be on a P2 350 2xx Megs ram. I could easily play 10-20 mp3s at one time with all playing smoothly while I ran several other programs. Sure there was no reason to do that, but it looked cool. Same goes for video. I remember the cool thing at one time was to play 50 or so copies of the Phantom Menace trailor. You really could run the full system to 100% and still have damn good GUI responce. There's still no system (that I've found) that runs as smooth as Be did in 1998.
The great thing about programming was that the threading was to embedded in the system that you didn't know you where even using it. Take some time to browse the BeBook. It was a great api.
Speaking as someone who just bought a non updated mini....
anytime you buy a gadget you have to expect it to be replaced/improved so after buying any way. Look a cpu speeds in general...moore's law and what not. No matter when you buy it, a bigger, better, shinier one will be available the day after you buy yours.

Dont forget this is the same state that just got national headlines for getting all worked up about pot smoking swimmers.
Maybe SC's stay motto should be changed to "Come down south, we have a jail cell just for you."

This is moderated funny..but is it?
To me it says a lot about the current state of Christianity and Islam....well the fringe but more vocal components of each of the two.
huh? what BeOS are you talking about?
libroot was in C, the api was all c++, but there was still a nearly posix subsystem in place via libroot.

I agree that putting a layer of bureaucracy on an issue doesn't fix much. Maybe the better solution would be make people be honest about their intend.
Let O'reilly spew his insane nonsense, just as long as there is a warning that he is a right wing nut job.
And to follow the Fairness Doctrine:
Let Olbermann spew his insane nonsense, just as long as there is a warning that he is a left wing nut job.
Have you not watched tv lately?
Getting 1/3 of the discussion to be fact based would be an improvement.
How long before Jack Thompson claims that GTA is responsible for the insurgency int Iraq?
Sadly I'm not sure if this is a joke or a serious question.
it's not Xbox 361, it's xbox 360.1 or maybe 350.07
Actually I fully expect iTV to have games and very likely it will play the games you already have on your iPod.
With the Mac,iPod, (iPhone?) and iTV combo + universal binaries could create an increable platform if Apple chose to.
Yeah apple realy souldn't be hogging that (check task manager) 1MB of ram and less than 1 percent of my cpu

Perhapse he could have refrained from lumping them with Iraq and Iran on our public bombing list..."Axis of Evil."
The fact of the matter NK was following their agreements with us until that little catch phrase.
Actually the winxp/2k install disk's recovery mode will rewrite the mbr as well.
Who would have thought that a political party that uses a jack-ass as a mascot would be successfull....well at least successfull on average.

I do believe that was a joke.
If I remember correctly the story you read was refering to the Vista's media controls being identical to those of BeOS
like a tiny flashdrive that could easily be misplaced...or dropped from you pocket?
