My apologies, it wasn't meant to be taken as a derogatory statement. I was referring to the force of habit. These people grew up with only scheduled television, so they'd be most likely to continue using it because it's what they've done the longest.
Just because I wrote something on the Internet doesn't mean I'm a troll.;)
The concept of having to wait watch videos at intervals set by a company is so very 1950s. This is the 21st century as we have something called on-demand. Yeah, cable companies do it to a small extent, but not like Netflix does. Combine that with the sub-par quality and speed they provide compared to DSL and they're going to be marginalized in the coming years. Even more so when the over 50 crowd dies.
Much like music and the RIAA, they're going to loose the center stage. Which means that you can expect them to start trying to buy politicians (or using the ones that they've already purchased) to pass laws that try to keep their antiquated method of business alive.
Of course the sun has nothing to do with the warming of Earth. I mean, if it did, you'd expect other planets, such as Mars and Venus, to be warming up as well.
People are going to draw parallels between Google and Microsoft or Intel. However, I need to point out that unlike the later two, Google's services are free to the end user. Not only that, but it's also monumentally easier to stop using Google than say, Microsoft.
I don't know if Google is doing what they're accused of, but so what? It's free, I'm not locked in, and they never said that they were impartial (so no false advertisement).
It sure has been getting warmer since the end of the last ice age.
It's often speculated that the warming of the end, and the subsequent end of the last ice age, it was a major factor in the rise and spread of the human population.
Of course, it was the humans, ten thousand years ago, that were driving their SUVs that caused the last ice age to end.
Other relevant facts: Women are also more likely to work part-time; a type of position that pays less. They're also more likely to leave work for raising children.
Since the women leaving the IT field are bringing down the percentage of women in the IT field, of which there have been many stories on about on Slashdot saying this must increase, they're working against the raising of women in the IT field. Therefore, they must be sexist.
It really great that they built a Millennium Falcon for the kid and all; but if he really had a wish and is a Star Wars fan, he really should've wished that Greedo shot first.
No technology is good or bad. Neither does it make you smart or dumber.
I don't watch a lot of television, but when I do, I watch Discovery, The History Channel, or Animal Planet. I tend to learn something new every time I watch.
Now, if all you watch is reality TV and sitcoms, you're less likely to learn anything. Once again, it comes down to personal responsibility.
My last bit of advice is to watch the video on YouTube from gotbletu. He has tons of Ubuntu how-to videos. He's slightly profane, but very informative.
I did an upgrade and had almost no problems. I did have to re-config grub2 to dual-boot into Windows-7.
After a couple of weeks, I did something that made my bottom panel disappear. I couldn't get it back, so I deleted my.gnome and.gnome2 folders. Holy cow, did that make a difference. The windows became so much more responsive and features that I didn't have, appeared (I can't remember what they are off the top of my head). So if you are having any problems with GNOME, delete those folders and enjoy. Keep in mind that you'll need to reset all GNOME-related settings such as the desktop picture, panels, and such.

I like this proactive step to prevent that.
How hard do you think it would be to create an analog version of the part that makes you drive off a cliff?

Resurrect dead movie stars?
As if his ego wasn't big before. Now he thinks he Jesus...
You don't have to tell me! Because of GTA I can kill hookers almost like a professional!
It is funny or sad that this was also my first thought when I read the synopsis?
I'm not so sure that I should laugh...
Actually, it just shutdown 5 days ago.
How did you know when it was bed time at Michael Jackson's house? The big hand was on the little hand.
Texas, why am I not surprised?

Oh God, don't tell me he's making a Star Wars Babies movie?!

You insulted Black Jesus and you were modded down for it.
Apparently some of the mods on Slashdot don't like unnecessary debate either...
If you pick 1998 as the year to start, then yes, temperatures have declined from that extraordinary El Nino weather pattern.
And, if you go back to the end of the last ice age, you'll also see a warming trend. Long before the industrial age and man-made CO2 emissions.
And again, if you go back to the beginning of the Pliocene Epoch, you'll find that the Earth has cooled since then.
What's your point?
Isn't it obvious what you did? You insulted the priests of the Global Warming religion.

Do the authorities care so little for the average citizen?
If they despise us so much, why don't they just allow phishing scams? Embezzlement? Ponzi scams?

Windows 7's slogan: It's not Vista!
Jokes aside, I'm pleased with Windows 7. Granted, I only use it for games (I dual-boot Ubuntu and Windows 7).
If it's okay for them to videotape me in public, then it's okay for me to videotape them.
Glad to help!

Then also try deleting your .gconf .gconfd .metacity folders.
