    Usually I'd more than agree with you, but alas.. quote from the book review; "Roblimo's new book Point and Click Linux really consists of three things: the book itself, an included copy on CD of the Debian-based SimplyMepis Linux distribution, and a DVD featuring Roblimo's multi-part narrated video guide for getting started with Linux, Mepis and KDE."

    Another vote for XBMC here.. A win2000 server with lots of disk acts as an FTP site and library for all my media. Xbox/xmbc has access to it all through smb-shares. Plays virtually any kind of media, has integrated IMDB-parsing, i get automatic updates for a gigantic lists of online media such as TV channels, film previews, webcasts, etc etc..

    Dupe story, dupe "which state" discussion, so I'll dupe my comment from last time;

    There is an episode where the opening (couch) scene is an overhead view of the house. The view goes zooming out through the skies for an overhead view of the US, with Illonois in center, and into space.

    There has been hundreds of vague hints and clues, the man himself has stated that Springfield is imaginary and so on, but this one definitely shows Springfield, Illinois. On a map!

    That all seems short sighted. It also doesn't seem to take into account new car companys that may popup in the future. The fact is they are just prolonging the real solution, and at some point, they will have to do something.

    And at some point, cars and VINs will be obsolete. 30 years? Our personal teleporters should be ready by then.

    Err.. they DID build a private system for communication, and it IS like a BBS, a network, a service. It does NOT use p2p for anything else than file transfers! Do a netstat -a while having an open session, and you'll see that your only relevant connection is to the MSN service. This is what makes you unable to get your peer's IP address unless you initiate a file transfer or similar to him/her.
