    I'm a casual Ubuntu lusr & hobby kit builder. I've run only Ubuntu as my home desktop the last four years. Most hardware has Linux drivers:I exclude scanners ofcourse. That's pretty good. As long as I stay on the software main-line-path everything just (mostly) works. And works well the first time. Move off that path one-half-step and you have no idea whether you will survive the next two mouse/key clicks ! That is a very threatening and IBM_like userland experience. But, who wants to be such a drone and not experiment? The Linux cost of experimentation is ******BLAAAAAAAPOOOOO******* A second angle is the lack of even ONE (1) Linux-exclusive killer application: Nothing to feel humanly "special" about.
