While their latest digital slr had some nice features such as the built in anti shake feature, they were only ever 2nd or 3rd best to canon and nikon in this department, and as far as their film goes, it is really as 2nd teir as agfa etc. The saddest day for film will be when fuji stops making Velvia and the likes, and of course the sad day for digital has already come,... all these people with top of the line digital SLRs that have no clue how to use them

My first thought was that it was a shame they didnt choose to put the latest build of firefox on all the HP machines instead, but then I realised Netscape would be best for the opensource movement in general because
    a) more gecko compliant browsers means more pressure for standard compliant code
    b) installing several million extra copies of a single spesific build of firefox would encourage more exploits targeted at the one build, factionalising the gecko based browsers out there makes a single exploit for the whole group much harder to make
    thats just my opinoin anyway...

  8. Re:You need a *lot* of water as well. on Build Your Own Snow Gun · · Score: 1

The ski resort I worked at did not heat their pipes, they simply had water flowing through them fast enough for it to *mostly* not freeze, they were a foot in diamater and we generally ran 80-120 snow guns a night. If a pipe did freeze, you had 10+ snow makers out there at the frozen point heating the pipe with 10 blow torches, not very fun, only happened like twice in the 3 months I worked there

  9. This would be pretty hard on Build Your Own Snow Gun · · Score: 2, Informative

I worked as a snow maker for 3 months a couple years back and what I know is that using water treated with snow enducing bacteria and using air compressed on a set of pumps that used as much electicity as a small town, on snow guns with commercial heads, you really needed it to be below 30 degrees F. To do the equivilant home made style you would need a LOT as well as very high water pressure and very cold temperatures seeing as you would not have the snow enducing bacteria.

Thanks, I acutally got my first post modded to 5 (that didnt get modded back down to 4) just yesterday, for a one liner of all things. Another game that never got off the ground that really should have was Master of Magic 2, although they say that if MOO3 is succesful they may revisit MOM2, another case of a good game depending on the game buying public to validate it, hopefully MOO3 will be a showcase of game over glitz and not the other way around.

  13. Blame the people on Why Do Games and Game Studios Fail? · · Score: 5, Insightful

Games fail because the game buying public have failed,.. What people have supported with their $$$ over the years has led the game designers to have to put their investment into the flashy graphics using the latest 3D cards and such before gameplay and origionality,.. Before the age when 3D cards were the mainstay we get things like Star Control 2, Quest for Glory, Civilization and the likes,.. New and origional concepts were coming out all the time, granted you can do only so much new stuff it does not seem so much the trend these days,.. as for 3D over gameplay, look at what happened to Star Control 3, it was an absolubte joke, #2 is still playable now, #3 wasnt even fun when it first game out.
