Agreed... PowerShell is how a consistent command line interface should be done. Piping objects it's a joy instead of dealing with spacing and grep-everything... You can even have them being human readable for all those object-scared-people out there. Or hey, lets implement the same thing in python or ruby. Lets begin from 0. If you want all to be a file, so lets be it but at least that the commands have options and structures consistent between them. I hate all those arcane command line options that are not consistent even between commands that are supposedly to do similar things. All just preserved in the name of history and old scripts... ("ps aux" and "ps -aux")

Well, when I was a wannabe Palm hacker, I always saw the need for an onscreen keyboard that didn't follow the QWERTY layout. (I always believed that there was a more speedy way to input things than drawing each letter one at a time) This layout is anything but optimized for one-finger-or-pen-point-swiped-input. So in my own search for perfection, I collided with the ATOMIK keyboard and relevant thesis from IBM research (1, 2, 3) Unfortunately, English is just my second language so anything optimized for English couldn't work out with enough success rate to be useful so I embarked on the journey to program out the algorithms on those thesis to develop my own Spanish arrangement of letters, to make my own atomic keyboard layout. After a while, I ended up with a very useful layout that, as the thesis states, ended up with common word endings available as gliphs from the pen. If any person in the world attempts to make a keyboard for swiping a finger or a pen, is a fool if doesn't try to optimize the layout and to throw out the qwerty once and for all. (PS, the program and the layout were lost on a HDD crash but probably I will recreate this thing again, just for the sake of it...)
Western Digital WDTV is the closest thing to a perfect player for 100 bucks... and with the latest firmware update, is nearing perfection... if only had ethernet...:(
Registry is one of those curse/bless things. It sacrifices readability and mobility with just a single point of all your configuration files. It can assing permissions to each setting in a very granular way, as if each setting was a file system object. In fact, the only thing that is getting better with 2008, is that now you can access the registry from the command line, like a drive and access the setting like a file system. Try (in powershell) cd HKLM:. By the way, the boot menu now resides in the registry too.
Server Core is just trying to reduce the amount of patches and stuff that its installed by default. It should get 80% less patches than the full version (based on windows 2000 data). That translate in more UPTIME. It doesn't have a GUI (in the unix sense of the word). It has a windowing system (like x server) but doesn't have start menu, doesn't have explorer, doesn't have.net, icons, etc... All the utilities that don't depend on these stuff can run without problem and with a graphical or console interface (task manager, notepad, control panel applets, etc). You can install firefox if you want to. Is a shame that powershell cannot run inside it but that is because it needs.net. And yes, it needs a lot less of ram and disk space. The real deal with this, is that you can manage all the server by using mmc 3.0 snap ins from a remote system. This is practically the same graphical interface that you would use if you were locally managing it anyways.
Well... you can connect the MD1000 to a SASE controller if you need passthrough performance on that disk array. And the PERC 4 were also LSI. The PERC 3 was the real mess... some of them were LSI... some of them were adaptec..

The only problem that i see with this development is that the general public still doesn't really know what wikipedia is all about. They think that is some kind of web page maintained by a few that talks about everything. Or worse, they think that there is a company or institution behind it. They really don't know that anyone, anywhere can edit the content of wikipedia. Daily, I encounter people that seem to be sure that some divine entity makes sure that the content of wikipedia is fine. When i inform them that you can edit it, they stare like deer in a highway. This is the base of all the problems of wikipedia... and all the media buzz... when people realize how it works... everyone will be fine... even those people using ie...
Is not only the chipset, amd doesnt have the factory production to cover the demand that Dell can put on them... And if amd cannot cover it... the dell's direct model goes down in flame...
What about rosseta stone software for learning a language. It says that is the method used by the diplomatic service in US. Maybe is not a panacea... maybe is just a survival kit... anyone here used this particular software?!?! a comment?! a review?! a rant!?
