Those of us who administer systems need a fast, easy way to edit configuration files. We know where most of those files live, and can usually type them in to the File Open dialog a lot faster than we can get to them via the browsing tool. But my favorite tool, gedit, is no longer suitable for that purpose, because, as you can see from the screen shot at right, there is no longer any way to type a filename into the File Open dialog!
REAL MEN use VI from console to edit configuration files! Only wimps use gedit to do that!
1) Create a good web browser. (What definition of good?) 2) Create a web browser that can successfully compete with IE. 3) Successfully compete with IE. 4) Create an embeddable rendering engine to enable creation of web browsers. 5) Create a technology platform on top of which applications (not just web browsers) can be written. 6) Something else I'm missing.
You notice that their document is PDF, OOo makes PDF creation easy for the crowds (Export as PDF button) whereas MSWord makes it a pain in the ass ("printer driver" / Acrobat Distiller combination...)
Massive migration to Linux! maybe the start will not be easy, but with some time, we'll be entirely free from Microsoft tax and we'll save billion EUROS in licenses, stability, and the like!
last but not least, then Linux will make inroads in US and everywhere in the woooorld!!
