Please correct me if I am wrong (and I know you will) but did Valve not hire Bram Cohen to help with steam?
And didn't Bram say in a recent interview (I can find it if someone wants) that bit torrent never will be, or should never be anonymous?
So, Valve is paying him, do they ask him to help fight piracy on bit torrent? Obviously Valve has exceptionally more information about Bit Torrent that your average anti-piracy software company.
This raises many questions/possibilities
I am surprised this has not been brought up more frequently on slashdot.
Here in Canada, one of our largest cable companies (Shaw) has a movie on demand service, and has had one for over a year. Granted the selection has went from "slim", to "not bad".
It is prohibitive in some cases because you must have there high-speed service, with there digital cable, but the quality of the picture and sound is surprisingly good, and it starts immediately, not tomorrow.

I think they are just bringing the lawsuit to them. Wi-Lan's head office is in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. They are a large company, but if you look at the latest financials on their website, they are no Cisco. This may be a David and Goliath fight, and why not fight in on home turf? Plus, it would probably be significantly less expensive.
Every concert Metallica plays is available approx. 4 days after on www.livemetallica.com for $10 US. You have the option of downloading MP3 or flac and includes cover art!. I downloaded a concert recently and was impressed, although James Hetfield voice was a little to prominent. Go figure, I download all there songs from kazaa, but paid for the concert. But the money I paid for the concert probably goes to the band, so I don't have a problem supporting it.

We asked around for sponsors, and were surprised by the response we received. A local grocery store sent us tons of chips and pop, pizza place sponsored pizza etc. Go to the local computer stores, as I found they are more willing to donate. Maybe not much, but they will add something.
We had a projector setup up to our main server, and some games (unreal tournament) have spectator mode, which is cool.
We found that alcohol was not fun. Each to there own, but having people slobbering drunk at 7:30 in the morning was just not fun. spectator mode, which is cool.

Could this be an excuse for users on the fence to jump over to Linux?
Would microsoft want to promote this?
If there are people out there that would like to use Linux, but do not because it does not have "x" and microsoft provides "x" for free, are they not taking paying customers away?
Just a thought
Didn't Bon Jovi and Bruce Springsteen just sue a bar for playing there songs on the jukebox and not paying royalties? I know Bruce Springsteen was involved for sure, but I cant remember who the other artist was. Please correct me if I am wrong, but come on, isnt that a little ridiculous?
I bought there last CD (busted Stuff) because it came with a DVD with a 5.1 video, live performances, and some enhanced stuff. And it was still cheaper that most of the other new releases sitting beside it. I am all for extra's!
does anyone know how to overclock the thinkgeek laser to go higher the 5mW's? :)

with there proprietary ATRAC3 format, everyone will jump on bored and finally we will see a universal standard!
