but this is different...you can make any choice you want, but if not enough people make the same choice as you, then none of you get to keep it. Your analogy is flawed, but what if there was a big software vote, and everybody had to use the winners system. Then would you vote beos, or would you vote for the only candidate at the time that stands a chance
once again, this isnt about the cost, and most of the other posts have figured out that at current prices they would even out over a normal driving time (possibly the normal car a bit in the lead), but if gas prices and tax breaks go up, then look at the hybrids...but I digress
The concept of the hybrid is saving gas, saving the environment...you DO realize that we will eventually run out of oil...and a hybrid will help slow that down until we can get something that doesnt need oil. So stop trying to convince others not to save the environment even if you want do drive your ford excursion to work every day with your briefcase looking like an ant in the back.
sorry to burst your bubble but thats sounds a LOT more like a turbo or supercharger boost meter (more boost means more acceleration but more gas) but its definately not a MPG meter as it only changes based on boost pressure

well it sounded like you read the article but you may need some Free Worksheets because you clearly missed the part where he said it was an opteron overclocked to the release speed of the Athlon64, but it was the FIRST with an agp enabeled nforce3 motherboard (AMD prevented their creation until launch of Athlon64). So if you want to see the stock speeds, there they are (close estimate) and if you want to see underclocked stock speeds without an agp graphics card, check out some nice opteron benchmarks.
I'll second that, it has very good inputs, and the dual rechargable bateries make it last long even with the disk writes. You can record up to 48KHz wav and 320kbps mp3 with up to 48dB boost. The onscreen display give you enough info to monitor and adjust the gain if needed without attatching some headphones to monitor for clipping. Overall I have used it to record a genetics confrence and the results turned out nicely using the output on an SPL meter as my mic. I have also used it wiht my cd player for a portable ripper.
With the release of the newest nomad zen (zens dont have recording) the price of a jb3 should drop and also be findable used. If you need even more recording space and time, the second battery is helpful (each one gives 11 hours of playback roughly) and the HDD is upgradeable.

I can access my pop3 email at any web browser anywhere with less bloat than yahoo...its called a webmail script on your server. Mine works perfectly except for the fact that I filter spam at the client level not at the server level so my spam is still there on the webmail (but only because of the technique I choose)
but the article said they were computer literate, just had no experiance with the OS they were testing, how many people do you know that maybe use computers every day but wouldnt know how to get their email with windows?
just out of curiosity, I would think that if you are an experianced enough slashdot user, and if its true that you have never used windows (not at a friends house or a library a few times, get used to the UI?) I bet you would have seen enough/. articles and enough windows mimicing/product adds that you would know that outlook sends your email and excel is a spreadsheet.
the original article said that they used computer litterate people with no experiance on linux, and the same for windows although they didnt specify for windows, they said the same.
My question is where did they find experianced computer users with no windows experiance whatsoever. I know people who have never owned a PC and always had macs but they still have no problems with windows whatsoever (and virtualPC means they could have windows too). That goes double for linux users, I dont know any linux users who havnt run windows on a computer. I dont see any feasible way for this test to be conducted except by people who have never used a computer, but then the results would be worthless since they would spend too much time sitting in awe.
many people neglect to read linked articles before posting but it appears you didnt finish reading the question...he says he wants something to SHOW his architecht...architect...he has one..
because stealing music isnt theft, its downloading music that in YOUR mind could very well be legal...I mean hey...if its there to download OF COURSE the copyright holders want it there...it is however copyright infringement, mostly on the part of the person you downloaded it from. You didnt STEAL anything, more recieved stolen property. If you share music, you still didnt steal anything, you just recieved and resold (cost of 0) stolen property. no theft (did the person you downloaded from LOSE the song or just give you a copy) but lots of copyright infringement.
Identity theft is theft because you are taking something away from another person, you take THEIR credit and when you are done, they probobly wont have any credit left...plus you probobly had to steal some mail or something to take the identity...
1.10 could stop botting...hell blizzard should try one of those schemes like many online accounts use (please write the numbers in this image) and require it every time you join a game. Now you either have to babysit your bot (maybe a new job opportunity, charge $1 a person to enter their bots code for so many hours) or you simply cant bot.
everything I have on my zon is mine that I picked up(or was picked up by a close friend, usually in the same game as me). For a while I had a buriza that might have been duped/botted but I finally picked up one of my own that I KNOW is not hacked and had better stats than my original one:). On my sorc I do admit I have an occy that may be botted but I had an awesome orb before that so all I really gained was +1 skills that I could do without. when 1.10 comes out it wont matter because I wont touch those characters, only play on ladder where the bad items dont exist yet.
I think if they really wanted to stop dupes, the items (at least teh good ones) could have unique numbers and if there are 2 items with that number, both are deleted. this would stop dupes as long as the dupe method doesnt create a new number for hte item.
if any "industry" is saturated, it would have to be D2. Everything in that game is botted or duped that you can buy (most items on ebay are sold as hacked or bugged items anyways) so its not exactly the same. When 1.10 comes out this should stop until someone finds dupe method because all the new Chars wont be able to use old items...tough deal to legit players but as a legit player myself (well I will return when 1.10 comes...I played a month ago hoping it would come but recently have stopped) I think 1.10 will be wonderful if ONLY for the ladder only chars
I think the best part is that after reading the story from you, it gets posted BY SOMEONE ELSE hahaha thats what you get for telling them what to post so they can add a name and a link
I dont think you got the point, gnucash is NOT a money or quicken replacement, its not designed for you to take home and balance your checkbook with(although it can do that too). GNUcash is a full accounting suite more similar to Peachtree Accounting
It needs to be kept for linux on the desktop not because it replaces quicken but because it replaces the enterprise (but not server) software solutions and as we all know, if people get used to only linux at work, they probobly wont have a problem with it at home.
hmm...I get 12.50 an hour from my highschool for even easier stuff. although
a) they would never let any kid touch the inner workings of their network nomatter how good they were or how big a problem they could solve
b) my job is easy now but took shitloads of work to get too and if you count up the time maybe I might average out to 6 or 7 an hour.
Id be curios to know what software is being exploited here...it would be interesting to see what I could do with access to the sofware used at my school but I wouldnt be able to make permant changes because IIRC the web-available grade system is taken from grades that are exported from the internal system, leaving no way to change the internal grade
makes sense with the rocket and same goes for health and even onscreen maps in some games. A person can usually tell how badly they are hurt but videogames need a way to show this, how about a number or percentage; also sense of direction is not very viable in many games but is aided by a map (how many people play diablo2 and never use the map)
as to saves, I feel that you should be able to save whenver you want (yes this can make some games easier but too bad) because its a game, not everyone can just play until a savepoint comes up, what if you have somewhere to go and dont want to lose all of your progress...what about "Johnny put down that controller this instant and wash the dishes." Try playing final fantasy 5 in an emulater with the ability to "save state" this allows you to save anywhere at any time (same as quicksave in neverwinternights) without this you can only save OUTSIDE of places or in special points, this would make people like me angry at the game because they cant jsut stop playing when they want, they have to be in a certian part of the game. I would settle for a diablo2 style "save and exit" as it would at least prevent some abuse of the save right before a boss and you dont have to fight back to it technique.
I would really say if all you want is music, ipod for mac(acc=itunes music store), zen for win(wma support=windows based music stores) and either for linux.
I own a jukebox 3 (20gb) and it has great sound quality (creative does have a BIT more experiance in sound than apple) and has dual line out ports (attatch to 4+speaker systems) in addition to the headphone jack. The feature that an iPod doesnt even come close to is line/mic/optical(and FM with additional hardware) recording to many different formats. Im not sure if the zenNX has these as creatives website isnt loading for me but these features definately made me pick creative over the ipod even though the jukebox is kinda big and ugly (doesnt matter if you keep it in a bag, pocket, or slide it into an empty slot above your car stereo:) )
it was a qt incompatibility with something that made the k applications stop working and somehow gnome didnt work either. Mandrake 9.0 is working just fine and as my first desktop linux install I thought mandrakes offering at the time looked good
thats only counting the computers built by linux networx, not the ones running it
but this is different...you can make any choice you want, but if not enough people make the same choice as you, then none of you get to keep it. wait...replacing the shifter...ummm what do you do when ubershift-1.3beta crashes and you get stuck in reverse (damn that cursed reverse bug)
