I was on the jury for a drug dealer a while ago. On his testimony he said he buys stolen "disposable" cell phones to make his phone calls. These phones only last a day or two at most but by then he's already gotten all the use out of them.
Because people don't want to walk 5 blocks to a subway station, wait 10 minutes for a train, take it for one stop, then walk another 5 blocks to where you want to go.
I think a bigger downside of doing things the way you do is unable to play two games on the same computer at the same time. You'd have to somehow log into two different steam accounts at the same time.
As the sibling posts say, all the Humble Bundles can be downloaded separately and played without Steam.
Incidentally I'm on the complete opposite boat as you. In exchange for a little statistics collection, which is a great thing in and of itself, you get to know exactly how many hours you and your friends have put in for each game, automatic updates, multiplayer server selection, cloud save sync and SALES. Buying great games for less than 5 bucks is something hard to find when everyone else wants 60 dollars for lame console games.
I won't be buying any PC game that is not on Steam.
In some culture it's quite commonplace for everyone to take afternoon naps. Where I came from public schools had designated afternoon nap time when students and teachers napped.
It was quite the weird transition moving to United States where people considered it bizarre.
I think as long as humans aren't part of that chain then we're all good. And we can make sure that we won't by making our own food source, which we already do.
Err... Making it easier to get the ketchup out the bottle will DECREASE the time before people's buying new bottles. When there's a little bit of ketchup left in the bottle people will try to get it out before buying a new one 'cause well.. there's still some left!
Bookmarks don't save the place on the page, the part of text you have highlighted, the place where you have paused the flash audio, the text you have entered into a textbox, etc etc.
It only means more people use iPhones on Slashdot.
I got that on my cell phone just this morning.

They take about 6 months to a year from the pictures being taken to appearing on the maps.
Here's an AMA done by a google streetview driver. Pretty interesting read.

When can you EVER return software because it's buggy?
How about "I only use FB on my home computer during my free time. I have the password saved on there so I don't have it with me."?
It's non-confrontational and doesn't make you look like a hermit.

So is the person calling actually from Google? Or is it just some scammer claiming to be from Google?
Yeah pretty much. Dave with his wall of text over two controllers. Get a life.
And then some dumbass goes on and on about his popular comic as if he's someone important. Get a life too.
If you knew there's going to be a sale tomorrow and you don't need it right away, of course you're going to wait....

We had nap time in elementary, junior and high school as well.

I, for one, am glad to know that even when global warming has killed all other species in the world we'll still have meat to eat.

Bargain shoppers and coupon clippers like my mom. She always signs up for all kinds of spam and she reads them and buys stuff from them.
And she signs me up for them too.
The funny thing is that map is Taiwan's claims, not PRC's.
That's not what the Wikipedia article says. According to this, it was growing higher every season with the last season highest.

And what happens when there's an iOS update? What happens when you get a new ipod every year?
People who keep up with buying all the iStuff as soon as they come out won't have to deal with 3rd party software.
I want to know how many people paid only 1 cent (and thus is actually costing them on fees).
If you paid higher than the average you get other games thrown in.
When you unfriend someone all they have to do is look at their friends list and see you missing to deduce that you've unfriended them.
It's not like some big secret. People can already easily find out.
