    I agree. Quake has in fact been ported to the the iPhone as well, unfortunately, because of poor design decisions it's nearly completely unplayable (using the accelerator for control).
    Wolfenstein 3d really looks dated in comparison to the games that are currently available for iPhone.

    I don't know about that. I had an earier version on the Zen and it requried propiety software to sync. Nowdays I hear that the new devices require WMP to sync and they don't support Linux. The truth is there is very few mp3 players that will connect as a normal flash drive.

    Maybe MIDP3 would be one of the projects pulled as well? MIDP3 is the new version of J2ME (java for mobile phones). The commitee has being working on it for 6 years, with still no sign of ever seeing the light of day. Meanwhile, J2ME increasingly becomes less popular as the API has become dated in comparision with new platforms. It would make sense to put it out of it's misery at this stage.

    I always put my pc in standby mode, even when going away for short periods. I'm not quite sure how much it actually saves, but if you configure the right bios settings it'll even switch off the fans, so it seems like it's completely powered down

    I regularly get spam that's gets through gmail filters. And what about legitimate mail getting put into the spam folder? That wastes a lot of time.
    The spammers craft their mails so well these days, that legitimate mail has a much higher chance of getting dumped into the spam folder than spam does

    Who says it performs better anyway? Arstechnica gives no information on what tests they ran. Windows 7 is really just Vista SP3, so I'm a bit sketical.

    From reading the artical it appears that none of the SSD manufactures did any real world testing and they only designed their products to maximise sequental read/write performance. Not one ever tried popping it into a real machine to see how it performed.

    So, how many Android phones exist in the world compared to iPhones and iPod touch, and symbian?
    In all fairness, I'd like to see Android succeed, but google are going to have to do more than this. Just tossing a phone OS out and hoping that some one will use it isn't enough. You need top brand manufactures, like Nokia or Sony Ericsson on board. It's been how many years? and we only have two clunky PDA phones to show for it.

    Yes, of coarse any multi-million line application solely developed and tested for 32-bit target will compile and run on 64 bit without any bugs.

    It's a good point. Microsoft actually blames poor performance partially due to Apple gaining market share. Wonder how much of that gain is people trying to avoid Vista?
