I wouldn't buy Apple at $200 because I think it is really worth that. Over the years I've learned that the market has really nothing to do with reality, but everything to do with what people think that other people might think the value is.

  4. Train simulation on Dirty Coding Tricks To Make a Deadline · · Score: 5, Interesting

Way back we had a project where we had to simulate entire train traffic entering Helsinki train terminal. Someone else had made the simulator and it ran pretty neatly, but unfortunately crashed mysteriously after about four - six hours of simulation time. Our customers were coming the on monday and I spent my sunday trying to figure out how this simulation worked and what crashed it. Finally I caught the problem, which was as simple as some null pointer to a train schedule or something similar which needed to be referenced. I couldn't figure out why it was null in time, so I just added test for null pointer, which skipped said code. Program ran fine and we got our money. Never figured out what was wrong with it. Luckily it was only a simulation.

Kidding aside, I've discovered that Googles innovation has had remarkable improvements on my life. Especially now that I've replaced my social interaction with opposite sex with gFriend. That's short for Google Friend perhaps? gFriend takes care of what I wear and other needs, well you know. I just hope Google never goes belly up, because that means I have to go back to my iWifi provided by Apple if she'll take me. Any way I propably won't be reading this board much longer, because though Google has closed down the gFriend for few years, they are now working on an improvement called gDot. It's based on a product they bought from a company called Slashspot. Can't wait to start working on that one.
