Will all you religious zealots please piss off somewhere else.
I wanted to read about sharks, stem cells and human facial features, not this incessant whining about creationism that's polluting damn near every biology thread on Slashdot.
I've often wondered about that. We have a lot of asymmetrical multi proccessor machines where there's general purpose processor which offloads tasks to GPUs, signal processors etc, but are there any computers which use multiple diffent general purpose CPUs?
Amiga's Sidecar had an Intel CPU and ran DOS from within the Amiga OS using Janus software and there were bridgeboards that could run Windows for later models. How hard would it be to write an OS which could address both CPUs and pass instructions to the most suitable processor?
The quality's not good, but you can get interesting pics from a Digital Blue QX5 microscope held to your eye. With the 10x lens, and using the microsope hand held, you can see a fair bit of the inside of your eye.
It may be just a dream right now, but so was the idea of man flying 250 years ago (keep in mind balloons.)
If I try to keep in mind the ballons, I start to think of flying women instead of your flying man, then the dream changes completely. It's still nice though.
Wouldn't buying some stock in those contractors basically reconnect the profits back to those taxpayers?
Um, no. Where did you get that idea? You don't go fgrom being poor to rich by holding a few shares in a company. You go from being rich to being richer by being a director or CEO of the company.
They're getting rich off other Americans though. If you look at the money flow of the Iraq war, it's essentially a funnel to siphon wealth from taxpayers to a few select contractors.
Use "Run As" to execute the attachment in a dedicated Limited User account
Kids, don't try this at home.
This suggestion is not even vaguely a sandbox environment, and would be an extremely risky use of a Limited User account. A sandbox needs to be something like a chroot jail or a VM.
In effect, the answer to the question "Who watches the watchers?" becomes "Make everybody a watcher."
This is going to happen anyway. The proliferation of tiny and virtually free cameras means personal privacy will pretty much become a lost right. Within a few years, people will have to assume somebody is watching them at all times because there will be no way of preventing it.
10% that are considered long-term non-progressors that will probably not develop AIDS from HIV before of dying of something else.
Interesting. So we can conclude from your deductions that if we can persuade large numbers of cancer victims to step in front of trains before they die, we will successfully reduce the lethality of cancer.
Furthermore, sociopaths rarely are able to maintain a structure around them that would allow the extent of success that Mr. Jobs has achieved and when they are, it is typically maintained through violence and subjugation of others around them. Mr. Jobs life from what I have seen resembles nothing like that.
You've never worked at Apple, have you?
From what I understand, management there throws chairs around their offices and threaten to "fucking kill" business opponents.
Or was that some other company?
I don't *dare* click a link with a comment like that attached to it at work
It's moderately unsafe for work - could certainly offend some people. From the page;
The Dream of the Fisherman's Wife is an erotic woodcut made circa 1820 by Hokusai, perhaps the first instance of tentacled creatures appearing in Japanese erotica (sometimes called tentacle sex).
It's quite a famous piece of art though, so you might get away with it.
Did anyone else see the headline and thing the link was going to teach us how to look dinner on the engine block?
Well, I did. I used to have a job that meant I'd regularly be driving from between minesites in the north of Western Australia. I'd always use the heat from the exhaust manifold of whatever car I was driving to heat up pies and other food.
The turbo shroud on a Holden Rodeo (not sure what the US equivalent is - probably an Isuzu) was just the right size to hold a pie or foil-wrapped meal. Landcruisers were good for the heat, but had no secure area for the food - I lost a couple of meals until I worked out how to wire it them place properly.
I must have missed it. King Tut died? When!?
Sure kid, that's what they all say.
Now where were you on the night of 1325BC?

What was the scientific end game of Columbus's voyage to the Americas ?
Extending the middle digit to the flat earthers.
That would be really good thing.

What kind of setup would you need?

That should be:
You are hereby forbidden from using the English language in a pedantic and patronising manner ever again.
Why?

You are hear by forbidden from ever using statistics or percentages again.
You are the only one here who thinks hereby is spelled "hear by" or throw is spelled "through". *
You are hereby forbidden to use the English language in a pedantic and patronising manner ever again.
* Probably not true
The formula that you use assumes that the series goes a, ar, arr, arrr,
Oh no! The pirates have got loose in the stock market. Somebody call the RIAA.

How hard is it to not run software mailed to you by a stranger?
How hard would it be for my operating system to provide a sandbox, so I can run software mailed to me by strangers safely?

I'm thinking James Bond, "You Only Think Twice"
Sadly, your second and final thought will be "Whoops, that should be 'Live Twice'".
Don't let it stop you posting here though, you'll fit right in.
There's no question in my mind which does worse in the end.
That'd still be anal sex though, wouldn't it?

How much has the software and computing industry been moved along by this kind of project. Not too much springs to mind huh.
BSD.

So they're a division of Sony, are they?

My mom knew how to wire a fuse. I know how to screw in one.
Wow, you must have big fuses over there.
What the living heck does that have to do with ICs?
True. Getting kids to pour a jug of water onto the electrical components would be much more educational, for the survivors at least.
on my bigass American TV.
Sarcasm, right?
No, just descriptive.

It wasn't an original idea of mine either - Manifold Destiny has been around for years. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/0375751408/qid=9
