And there is a simple way to mitigate that, it is called defense in depth. So far I haven't had a single Win 7 PC I did defense in depth on get infected.
Simple?
After reading that, I am SO glad I don't use Windows myself, and a great deal more sympathetic to all those relatives and friends who come for help with their hosed computers.
No, that's not true.
I bought the Asus Transformer.
I like tinkering myself, but my GF is determinedly non-geek and still prefers the Android interface to iOS. Given that the hardware specs favour the Asus, as does the price, the Transformer is clearly a better device than the iPad.
My Asus Eee Pad Transformer (Android tablet) seamlessly switches between tablet, trackpad and mouse modes. Using the HDMI port to display the big screen is simple too.
on that note we should probably give up on OSX and desktop linux.
Nice astroturf effort, but you missed the bit where they said "it definitely doesn't have anything making it particularly appealing in comparison".
Seriously, go to a store and try a WP7 device.
You'll see straight away that it's a spectacularly pointless and boring device. Hell, look at the pic in TFA and tell me that is not the blandest, most banal looking OS ever shoehorned onto a tacky imitation of a Space Odyssey monolith.
Why couldn't they have released this phone with windows on it?
They wanted it to be good.
And yeah, I know Microsoft's reputation managers will mod this to oblivion, but it's true. Once you get past the flashy tiles, WP7 doesn't do anything particularly interesting, and is inconsistent/crappy about a whole bunch of things, like syncing, SD Cards, email, etc, etc.
Try one - you'll quickly understand why the few people who bought them ended up disappointed.
add kernel support so you can access your windows shared folders.
Does the Xoom need kernel modification for that?
I'm using the AndSMB app on my Asus to access my fileshares.
A bunch of self-glorifying script kiddies, that's all.
Just like old times hey?
I wonder if he'll turn out the same way as Mendax did.

Recent incarnations of X/K/Lubuntu seem quite responsive, even running from USB stick on my Kogan Agora netbook.

What makes you think he's American?
Maybe it would cut down on this pointless FUD.
It isn't exactly obscure information that Google is limiting the market app to devices linked to a cellular plan.
It's obscure to me.
I just bought an Asus EeePad Transformer which has no 3/4g option at all. Google Market is installed by default and works fine on that.
Where do you get this information from?

Or another child's Fisher Price toy .
I'm getting some popcorn. This should be fun.

what about you taking the first step?
A good first step might for you to go to China and look for yourself.
It's not the hellhole some people try to portray it as being, and neither are all of it's factories sweatshops.
Google it you mouth-breathing moron.

Try to keep a straight face.
If this patent gets granted, only those that get licensing from MS can do it. So not all.
And that's fair enough too.
Who else has so much experience with blue screens and white text?

absolutely does not mean that there was ever a time in human history that healthy 30 year olds were just spontaneously dropping dead.
Apart from now, you mean?
