    Does the Xoom need kernel modification for that?

    And there is a simple way to mitigate that, it is called defense in depth. So far I haven't had a single Win 7 PC I did defense in depth on get infected.

    After reading that, I am SO glad I don't use Windows myself, and a great deal more sympathetic to all those relatives and friends who come for help with their hosed computers.

    No, that's not true. I bought the Asus Transformer.

    I like tinkering myself, but my GF is determinedly non-geek and still prefers the Android interface to iOS. Given that the hardware specs favour the Asus, as does the price, the Transformer is clearly a better device than the iPad.

    It isn't exactly obscure information that Google is limiting the market app to devices linked to a cellular plan.

    It's obscure to me.

    I just bought an Asus EeePad Transformer which has no 3/4g option at all. Google Market is installed by default and works fine on that.

    Where do you get this information from?

    My Asus Eee Pad Transformer (Android tablet) seamlessly switches between tablet, trackpad and mouse modes. Using the HDMI port to display the big screen is simple too.

    Nice astroturf effort, but you missed the bit where they said "it definitely doesn't have anything making it particularly appealing in comparison".

    Seriously, go to a store and try a WP7 device.

    You'll see straight away that it's a spectacularly pointless and boring device. Hell, look at the pic in TFA and tell me that is not the blandest, most banal looking OS ever shoehorned onto a tacky imitation of a Space Odyssey monolith.

    Try to keep a straight face.

    They wanted it to be good.

    And yeah, I know Microsoft's reputation managers will mod this to oblivion, but it's true. Once you get past the flashy tiles, WP7 doesn't do anything particularly interesting, and is inconsistent/crappy about a whole bunch of things, like syncing, SD Cards, email, etc, etc.

    Try one - you'll quickly understand why the few people who bought them ended up disappointed.
