Apple, being a niche computer compared to Dell, is right increasing their sales compared to market generalists as Dell. It's like whole food beating wallmart supermarket- a very impressing thing.
A Mac is not an operating system, it's a hardware platform. Os X is the operating system. You can run Linux on a Mac without even have another OS in the vicinity. Do you need to emulate Linux on a x86 PC just because it comes with Windows preinstalled?

Mysql i perfect in that you get a system which handles these tasks good enough for free, but with an option to by support from the company. For a vast majority of systems out there and every single one I been in contact with, backup solutions are good enough for keeping the data integrity intact.

Please compare the specs AND the price for the Apple products. Yes there are smaller, cheaper notebooks or ones with better prestanda. Are there any ones smaller, cheaper and with better prestanda? How well would the iBook sell if it wass $100 more expensive but with a PC-card? How many people percent-vise are using those slots? No, not "I do for my GPS", but percent vise?

Old cards, or cards with to little RAM, are supposed to downgrade to "normal quartz". When comparing a Cube with a 12" AlBook, the difference is quite remarcable...
