Just another reason I do not use *buntu. Their reasoning is still lame, they would save more on disk space getting rid of mono and its dependencies than removing gimp.
I am familiar with some farming techniques, especially those involving the use of liquid nitrogen. You might have seen those wheeled white tanks in a farmers field, well that's liquid nitrogen. They use an applicator that has what they refer to as knives. On the back of each knife is a metal tube and is connected via a hose to the storage tank. The applicator device is connected to a tractor, the knives forced into the ground and a valve turned on. Nitrogen in gas form is forced under the tank pressure into the ground. This technique of adding nitrogen to the soil is nearly a 100 years old. The principle described in the article is much the same. So it will work.
This story is a good example why people like Mr. Murdock running huge companies should really, really keep their mouth shut about things they are clueless. Unfortunately for Mr. Murdock, he has more than a pocket full of quarters to buy a clue how search engines work; but instead of buying a clue, he would rather stick them up his nose.
I have not been following this issue real close. But, and there is always one of those. What Apple is doing, should a whole lot like what Microsoft did in the DOS days with DRDOS. Microsoft was intentionally sabotaging their own software to look for specific string, and if found cause applications to fail. Granted, this Apple trick is slightly different, but it sure does seem similar. IIRC, Microsoft got sued and had to cough up a really huge clam on the order of a billion dollars or so.
Which leads me to wonder if they wrote crappy code so they can, or could later on, like now; claim there hidden uber closed (therefore more secure) code is better. Just be on the watch for that Wookie behind the curtain.
they have one of the largest patent portfolios of anyone. But their contention patents has fueled such growth in the land of open source is complete bullshit... and they know it.

Oh forget that, just put a virtual Obama in there and he will quickly take them all a couple of more trillion into debt. That will fix everything.
to quote "The Dell Thunderbird supercomputer, named MegaTux, has 4,480 Intel microprocessors running Linux virtual machines with Wine, making it possible to run 1 million copies of a Windows environment without paying licensing fees to Microsoft.. That must really chap Microsoft's hide. Haha.
Apparently you missed or do not understand the phrases "making false representations", and "stealing a persons identity". People have gotten fired for a lot less. I think his actions qualify for more than a lot less.
Now if I understand what this guy was told by the lawyers is correct, and let me summarize my understanding based on what we have been told in the article. You create something and you automatically own the copyright, BUT you don't really own them until you plop down 35 bucks? Hmm. Well then. That sounds like to me that every newspaper, magazine, booklet, etc, etc for every article they publish they have to cough up 35 bucks for each and every one? That doesn't hardly sound right to me.
My thoughts exactly, and it is the Principle that should get hammered. Not only did this Principle make false representations, he also stole her identity by representing himself as her. At the very least this Principle should be sued on those grounds, and regardless of that outcome he should be fired.
What a fudster that guy is. They guy is talking about international money exchange rates... ok fine. Then comparing, based on the exchange rates when he wrote the article, the differences some countries would pay in relation to the US. Ok, fine, good. But the guy blows his whole credibility by later inserting the EU directive to Microsoft's Explorer removal, and that some how is a factor in the cost differences. Bullshit. They guy is just using the exchange rates as FUD... he is mixing apples and oranges. Unless his real intent is to wake up you virus riddled, trojan-ned infested zombified Window users to dump that OS and use something more secure.
To quote the quote;
"This is why most good programmers will stop contributing to the global community because there are those who will steal their work, pass it off as their own, never acknowledge or give credit, and then shamefully stick their head in the sand and ignore the consequences."
Bullshit. Show your source. The advantage here with open source... violators can easily be found. Since the code is GPL there is zero risk of legal repercussions.
Nothing will become of it. Sure there will be some smoke blown to make it look good. But to many positions in the FCC are owned by corporations. That is apparent with the way they have treated telecommunications over the past 20 years. Face it, like Obama, the FCC is just another one of our government agencies that is a whore to corporations.
The goose and gander finally meet.
The media industry has been whining about this for ages; they want others to do their job.
then why not Linus. At least Linus did not write a book and omit a few inconvenient truths.

And just to be even MORE clear, you will now by default have MONO installed since f-spot depends on it.
It is just an excuse for Ubuntu to make it MANDATORY you have MONO installed because f-spot DEPENDS on it.
Who wants to read Murdoch's bilge anyway.

Zune users must be some real tards if they think a device having a radio, HD or otherwise is a real marketing hook. Radios are soooo last century.
I can accept their stance that safety and costs issues has been solved. But waste? Which law of physics have they found a loophole?

are some of the most prettiest examples of broken by design... until enough chumps whine their hardware is crippled.

Whoever the city official is that decided they have the right to know personal passwords... for anything is a complete... fucking idiot.
Yeah right. If Microsoft had done this first it would have been hailed as revolutionary.
