There have been numerous articles and studies done that show that getting a Mac can save you lots of money. No need to worry about viruses or virus software, doesn't crash, and is one of the most secure operating systems there is.
There have been many surveys done by independent groups that have shown Macs to be cheaper in the long run. At my school, for example, we have the same situation--all PCs. While it sickens me every day to use them, I get a certain sadistic kick when certain "unfortunate" events happen. Example:
My school also recently installed grading software on ALL the teachers computers, effectively whiping out the old pen-and-notebook grading system. Well, turned out that this wasn't a very smart move because for over two whole weeks, all grading systems were unusable because of the Blaster worm, and seriously degraded classroom productivity. The school had to pay lots of money to call in the "Alpha Team" (no joke) to come in and repair their lousy system.
I'm sure that our school isn't the only that's experienced similar situations because of the counter-switch from the Mac, and there are always those windows-centric quirks that I see happening all the time too like "blue screens". The problem is tripled when 90% of the staff population barely understands the concept of a mouse (and this is in a school that's somewhere in the top 30 public schools in America).
What this means is that the car audio maker known as Alpine that installed the iPod connectors into the BMW's will soon be making this interface for other cars, and mere mortals such as ourselves will be able to afford it.
The problem with the computer industry is that the average joe has now idea what a computer really is. He sees that most people use MS Windows, and so goes with the flow, not knowing any better.
Cars, retail stores, are all relatively simple concepts to understand, but still, in this day and age, computers remain an elusive subject for most people. If they can't make up their minds as to what operating system they want, they have others do that for them, resulting in a domino effect that leads to a 95% market share.
What needs to be done is for the government to step in, and break MS apart into little pieces. Then, they need to establish a standards organization that will create a *Standard* hardware structure for all computers that is able to interpret and compile 5 of the top programming languages. If everything is standard-ized, then it will be simple for all programs--Mac, Windows, Linux--to compile their program for any OS.
Only then, will the computer industry be fixed, and choosing an OS will be equivalent to deciding between Window Managers or Desktop Environments such as KDE/Gnome. Finally, the quality of OS's will increase greatly due to the competition.
I don't get it. The image on their front page has an Apple iBook with a picture of two guys on it. Neither homosexuals nor Apple computers are affected by the MyDoom virus...
You lazy bum, how's it a drag? What? Gotta move your hand a little and click the link? Give the guy some time to prepare the other one. Why does it matter that much?

You're out of your mind. Rotten is one of the best review sites that I've seen, and you know why? Because its ratings are based on those from hundreds of critics, and not people. The majority of movie-goers, and people in general, are dumb. Critics have seen many more films than the average Joe and therefore can make better comparisons between good films, and bad ones.
IMDB gave Revolutions a score of about 6.8, while Rotten gave it the 30% it deserved.
I hate it when people diss critics, because critics are not alien species, but simply people with taste that analyze movies in depth and professionally.
Average Movie goer: "I liked Revolutions! It had lots of COOL explosions and fighting!"
Critic: "This film falls way below par with the standards set forth by the original. It seems that the Wachowski brothers.... etc".
I realized the second they told the public they were going to sue. So what I did was I decreased the amount of shared files I have by making copies of songs that are uncommon, and whos artists probably are not good friends of the RIAA. I share these songs only now, so if you want some good ol' Final Fantasy 7 theme music, just run a quick search!;-)
What the RIAA is accomplishing, is simply seriously decreasing the amount of shares on P2P networks, leaving only pr0n and unknown artists.
Me, I'm set with my Russian servers.... Good ol' Mother Russia, land of the oppressed hackers;-)
Tracker-Tracker.com? That site has been up for ages, but only because of the difference in architectures between Hotline/Carracho and Bittorrent. But I still say that the author of Bittorrent should think of a way to create something like, it seems readily possible.
...that UNIX beats itself. OS X is UNIX, and user switching is really just as fast as on any other *NIX based system, the only delay is Apple's insistance on having a perty Quartz graphics transition between it.
..Ahem.. Microsoft was never one to innovate... I predict that serveral years after Mac OS XI runs on 64bits, Windows SX will come out with one too; of course, it'll still sell more.
Many religion's seem to think that it already is. Just take this Flander's quote:
Science is like a blabber-mouth that spoils a movie by telling you how it ends! Well I say there are some things that don't want to know! Important things!
This requires "5 minutes" to hold down the key long enough. If one has access to a machine for 5 minutes then security doesn't matter. On any version of OS X one can simply launch up single-user mode when restarting and have Root access in under a minute.
It is my belief that Apple is probably the one who coordinated this effort. Behold articles from the attested Think Secret, relating changes that Apple has been working hard with 3rd-party developers to support them better (i.e. less of the Shrelock VS Watson scandal).
I don't know about you guys, but for me and my OS X Box, Mozilla is #1. Safari is too buggy and doesn't support squat, Chimera is also too buggy, Opera is a joke, and IE is even worse. Try the nightly's of Mozilla, at least for me they are fast, bug free, and support virtually everything.
I don't know what you guys are talking about, cause other than it's laughable email-client, Mozilla is an IE killer.
It's been my experience that whenever something gets dubbed, it usually degrades it's quality. They should show the movie in subtitles like they did with Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon. The original soundtrack is usually purposefully orchestrated to fit the movie, and when you take a language as foreign as English and dubb it; the quality usually always degrades. I've also heard that they've changed some of the soundtrack around, and if this is true then it will be a MAJOR blow to the movie because as far as I can tell, the original soundtrack is mindblowing.
Has anyone seen both versions and can confirm/deny this?
I showed this movie to my whole family. Great flick and I highly recommend it to anyone who enjoys watching fantasy. The story is very good-hearted and the plot and fantasy aspects are amazing.
Some would compare it to Harry Potter, but really it's much more... intellectual.

We've got Windows and Linux torrents, but could some kind soul provide the OS X torrent? Or does everyone hate us mac-heads?

Either you guys are way in over your heads to ask all of /., or you've got an army of lawyers sitting behind PCs (YIKES!).

Somehow humble old Apple manages to come up with innovative ideas or improvements and they don't go bribing people for them....
Come up with your own ideas you incensitive clod!

It isn't from Disney. Disney just dubbed it into English for the American audiences.
